It has been 30 years since we learned never to say Candyman five times into a mirror because then Tony Todd would appear and kill us.
While he scared the shit out of us, was he scared of those live bees that he had all over him and his mouth? The actor told Entertainment Tonight, “The bees were the worst nemesis.”
How did Todd get through it? He had a good lawyer who got him around $1,000 per bee sting. Therefore, the actor was like “bring it on.” How many times did he get stung? Only 27, and that is not bad because there were over 200,000 bees on set, and they had their own trailer.
Oh, another fun factoid from the interview. How did Todd avoid swallowing a mouth full of fresh honey? They put a dental dam in his mouth to keep him from pooping bees for days.
I hate bees, but I would be up to working with them if I was getting paid four digits per sting. Although, with the cost of living increase, I would get five digits per sting.
