Keisha Castle-Hughes, the teenage star of film The Nativity Story, has missed its Vatican premiere because she is expecting a baby with her 19-year-old partner. On Friday Pope Benedict XVI turned down an invitation to attend the screening, reportedly because he was embarrassed the unmarried 16-year-old actress is expecting a child out of wedlock. The premiere of "The Nativity Story" was held yesterday – without Castle-Hughes – in the Vatican’s Pope Paul VI Hall, which is used for Sunday masses when they’re not held outside in St Peter’s Square. The actress, who scored an Oscar nomination for her role in 2002 film Whale Rider, plays Mary in the film.
