On Saturday night The CW's
Melrose Place had their launch party and I was there to find out what we can expect from this hot hot hot show that premieres on September 8th at 9p! The cast of Melrose Place 2.0 and 1.0 who will be on the new show were both there to celebrate fall's most talked about show.
Almost 15 years after they first worked on the original Melrose Place, Josie Bissett aka Jane Mancini, Daphne Zuniga aka Jo Reynolds and Laura Leighton aka Sydney Andrews all walked the blue carpet and still look as good as they did when the show aired on Fox.
Laura Leighton's Sydney Andrews is alive again for the pilot, well for most of it anyways… And when I asked her how she felt about how the writers were able to bring her back after how she ended up in the original she told me she liked how it all plays out!
Josie Bissett has taped one of her upcoming appearances on the show and told me she was excited to be back on it. She also said the new set is the same, but better! And from the pilot you can see what she is talking about! Josie also told me if character will start dating on her other show ABC Family's The Secret Life of an American Teenager that airs on Mondays at 9.
Daphne Zuniga is the only original returning who isn't an Andrews or a Mancini and she says she likes what the writers and have her come up with for Jo. She also told me she will be back on One Tree Hill as Brooke's mom, but will they still be getting along?
Thomas Calabro is back on Melrose Place and you can tell by that big smile he is so thrilled to be there!!! And he should be because he is not the same Dr Michael Mancini he was on the original, he is so much better!
Jessica Lucas is the only character on the show with a boyfriend and she lets me know if she thinks it will stay that way!
I didn't get to talk to Ashlee Simpson and Katie Cassidy, but my photographer for the night got those pictures.
Colin Egglesfield plays a cook on Melrose Place, and he talked to me about what else is cooking this season for his character and not everything is what it seems in the pilot!!!
Michael Rady finds Melrose Place familar to him, could be because he told me that is where he shot his last show Swingtown and the pool on his new show is the same one that was used on the cancelled-too-early CBS show. After watching Michael Rady on Melrose Place, it was the first time I was OK with Swingtown getting cancelled because we might not have had him on Melrose otherwise and he is so good on the show!
Shaun Sipos is playing Dr Mancini's son and he told me what it is like to be his son and what we can expect from his character David this season.
Stephanie Jacobsen plays a doctor who needs to pay the bills and she talked to me how she plans on paying them. BTW you would never guess it from the show, but Stephanie is from the land down under and wait until you hear talk in her native accent in my interview with her when I post next week.
Some of the 90210ers came out to celebrate their Tuesday night buddies! Matt Lanter and new comer Trevor Donovan previewed what and who we can expect to see them with on the upcoming season.
The new Melrose is like the original one, but a whole lot better! You are not going to want to miss this show everyone will be talking about on September 9th the day after it premieres! As you can see the cast is easy on the eyes, and their acting and storylines are as good as they look!
Check back next Monday for the start the Melrose Place/90210 week and a half that will be filled with the interviews I got from the hotter than hot Melrose Place party!!!
