The 8-part miniseries about The Kennedys starring Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes that was set to air on History, is just that because they have opted not to air it. According to a statement sent to The Hollywood Reporter, “Upon completion of the production of The Kennedys, History has decided not to air the 8-part miniseries on the network. While the film is produced and acted with the highest quality, after viewing the final product in its totality, we have concluded this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand.” I wonder what that means? Was it factually inaccurate? Was it crap? Why?
Although The Kennedys will not air here in The States, it will air in Canada on March 6th and around the world shortly afterwards and then maybe we will know why the miniseries was not History worthy.
Or we might find out because Asylum the company behind the series is shopping it around. They told The Hollywood Reporter, “Although we regret this does not fit into the History Channel’s plans, we are confident that television viewers in the United States will join viewers from around the world in having an opportunity to watch this series in the near future.” Now I am curious to see it, but I am not sure I can sit through that long of a series. That and after watching the trailer, Kinnear was not believable as JFK and Holmes didn’t sound anything like Jackie O.
