We are two weeks into the new broadcast TV season and one of the networks picked up a show for a full season. That show is…Prodigal Son.
The decision makes sense because it is doing well after 9-1-1. However, without that lead-in, I expect their numbers to drop. Not that it is a bad show, but Fox thinks just because a show does well after a highly rated show, it will do well on its one. That has not worked since Empire followed American Idol.
When it comes to what show will be next? I think it will be one or all of the CBS’s new comedies, but not for a few weeks. Unless The CW needs to keep production moving quickly on Batgirl, then that will be next. However, I hope CBS picks up Evil first and NBC considers giving a full season to Bluff City Law. I also think ABC’s Mixed-ish will get the bottom 9 order at some point.
