The CW imported Bump from Australia, and it is as lovable as koalas look, mate. The series that debuts tonight at 8p is about a teenage girl who gives birth even though she didn’t know that she was pregnant.
And that is how the show starts. Oly (Nathalie Morris) is rushed to the hospital with stomach pains, and it turns out she was in labor. Since she didn’t know she was pregnant, she doesn’t have any attachment to her baby. She wants to give it up, but the hospital insists that she takes her daughter home with her for 30 days because that is how they do things there.
Now, she and her recently separated mom (Claudia Karvan) have to figure out a way to raise this baby. That’s right. If Oly didn’t have enough to deal with now, she also has to deal with her parents splitting. Her dad wants to move back in, but her mom is having an affair. I should say, seeing someone new.
This brings us back to who was Oly seeing. She has been dating someone, but he is not the father. The father is Santi (Carlos Sanson Jr), who is more popular than she is. He wants to take responsibility for the baby, but Oly thinks she can do it by herself.
However, she lets him and his family in to get to know the baby. Now his family is her family in more ways than she knows.
In each of the ten episodes, Oly, Santi, and their families try to adapt to this new person in their lives. And we get to see them try to do the best that they can in a difficult situation.
And one thing that is not difficult is watching this show. There is something about it that makes it so enjoyable to watch. I binged it all in one day because I couldn’t stop watching it. I wanted to know what happened next, but I also cared about what happened next.
You cannot help but to fall in love with this show, so watch the first two episodes tonight at 8p and keep coming back for more every Thursday. This way, The CW will import the second and third seasons for us to enjoy.
