Last year, The Carmichael Show was my favorite new show and it was one of the last ones to debut. Tonight at 9p on NBC, it is back for its second season and it is even better than it was last year.
Tonight, they take on Bill Cosby and show us every side of the issue. By the end of the episode you will understand why people are still going to see him and why others are not.
Before we get to the end, let’s start with the beginning. Jerrod (Jerrod Carmichael) decided to surprise his girlfriend Maxine (Amber Stevens West) with tickets to a comedy show; but when she finds out it is for Bill Cosby, she refuses to go because of the allegations. He still wants to see the show, so he asks his parents if they want to go. His mom (Loretta Devine) and dad (David Alan Grier) are all excited to go, until Maxine tries to convince her future mother-in-law not to go. They ask the question, how many women is it OK to allegedly rape before you turn on an idol.
Now, they are torn on what to do, so they ask for a neutral opinion from Jerrod’s ex-sister-in-law Nekeisha (Tiffany Haddish). She has no idea what is going on with Bill Cosby, so they give her his Wikipedia page to read. Which makes things even more complicated.
Will anyone go to see Bill Cosby or will they all wind up going? You just have to tune in to find out.
The thing I absolutely adore about The Carmichael Show is they take on controversial issues, and show all sides of the story. They are less bias than the news these day and more informative. Plus, you are laughing with them and not at them like you are at news networks.
I can’t say enough good things about this sitcom, so I implore you to check out the best new comedy in a really really long time.

The Carmichael Show, ironically, would be great without Jerrod. The supporting cast is so much better. Plus, they could give his screen time to Nekeisha.
