January 15th, 2012 under Kristen Bell

Earlier this week the cast of Showtime’s House of Lies faced the press and we learned some truths about them and the show that airs every Sunday at 10p.
When Kristen Bell was asked what she thought about being on the show, she said “I’m f*cking enjoying the hell out of it” She then added why she answered the question like that, “It’s more provocative than anything I’ve ever done. And sometimes I have a potty mouth, and it’s just, you know, nice to not have those limitations.”
When asked about what is the weirdest things they have had to do on the show so far, here are some of the interesting answers they had for us.
Josh Lawson responded with, “I don’t know. Probably yeah, having Stephen make me put a dildo down my pants.” Adding a few seconds later, “Yeah. No. I had to I had to put a dildo down my pants. I suppose that’s pretty actually, that’s relatively weird.” Ben Schwartz described his moment, “Yeah. I got slapped in the face by a stripper.” That reminded Lawson of something else he did, “Uh huh. Oh, I had to slap my own dick.” Finally Dawn Olivieri chimed in with “Scenes with clothes on is weird for me.” Which I am sure the boys don’t mind.
One of the big parts of the show is where Marty Kaan played by Don Cheadle breaks out from a scene and narrates what is happening. So EP Stephen Hopkins described how they make it happen, “Actually, it’s very straightforward. It started off as like a couple of green screens being one with a couple of grips running around with green screens, and it ended up just everyone holding still, which is the funniest thing to do. And then you have to plan that out carefully with all the extras and stuff, but then a visual effects company comes in and touches it up, but it got pretty elaborate towards the end, I mean, certainly in the last three or four, there was some crazy stuff.” He concluded by saying, “Helicopters staying still. All sorts of stuff staying still.”
Don Cheadle has been doing so much Oscar worthy work that we forget that he has done some comedy. So where did he get that comedic timing, “I don’t know. I mean, really I would have to say I come from a long line of jokers. My family, we played a lot in my family, you know. My father and my mother, we all comedy just was a part of our lives together. We listened to Richard Pryor when I was a kid. I grew up with that sort of mentality already, and one of the first jobs I had was as a standup, you know. I did it until I bombed, and I was, like, ‘Well, that’s enough for that.’ So it’s something that’s kind of been in my DNA for a long time, and I just haven’t had a lot of opportunities to express it. So it’s great to have a shot with these clowns to kind of do that now.” Who knew he was more of comedian than a dramatic actor?
Glynn Thurman who plays Marty’s dad talked about something in his contract that you wouldn’t expect from him. He said, “As a matter of fact, I was surprised when they handed me a paper that said I had to sign this because there may be nudity involved. I said, ‘Oh, my gosh.’ I said, ‘Well, I don’t know. Is there enough lotion and makeup to get ash off the these things?'” So did he sign the contract with that stipulation? He exclaimed, “I signed off right away.”
