Entertainment Tonight got an exclusive interview with Sharon Osbourne, and she played the victim in last week’s heated debate. The talk show host defended her friend Piers Morgan, who I don’t think should be defended, and her co-hosts called her out on it. Let’s just say it did not go well for her. It went so poorly that the show did one more episode before being forced to go on hiatus so that CBS can reportedly look into claims about Osbourne’s attitude towards people on the staff in front of and behind the camera.
Since that Wednesday episode, several former Talk employees have called her out for hateful things she said about her fellow hosts. Things like saying Holly Robinson Peete was “too ghetto”, calling Julie Chen “slanty eyes” and “wonton”, and Sara Gilbert is a “pussy licker” and “fish eater.” Osbourne denies all of that.
That was just one of the many things she discussed with Kevin Fraiser yesterday on ET. She told him that she feels like she was blindsided by the questions about Morgan. She claims that the executive producers told her that the CBS executives told them they had to ask questions. Since they won’t tell her who, she thinks the investigation is about finding who the executives are.
However, a source told Page Six, her co-host “Elaine Welteroth and her hairstylist complained to HR over Sharon Osbourne’s recent exchange with Sheryl Underwood.
“They said they don’t feel comfortable working in a racially insensitive and hostile environment, and this complaint launched the investigation.”
As we await the results of the investigation, Osbourne also discussed her future with the daytime talk show. “I don’t know whether I want to go back. I don’t know whether I am wanted there,” she said.
Doing interviews like this will not help her standing with the network. As I have been saying, I doubt she will be back. I think CBS wanted an out, and this was it.
While that is what I think, Osbourne also told Frazier what she would want if she were to return to the show. “I wish we could go on and have an adult conversation calmly and work it out, but I don’t know whether we can,” she says. “I don’t know whether it’s gone past that.”
Do you think it has gone past that? Do you want her back on the show?
We might find out by Monday what her status with the show is. As of now, The Talk is expected to resume live shows on Tuesday.
