Season 1 of Russian Doll was brilliant. It dealt with Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) living her birthday over and over and over again until she figures out why she has been cursed to do so. Eventually, she breaks the chain and gets to move on with her life.
So with that in mind, I wondered how they were going to be able to do a second season which is streaming now on Netflix. Would she be forced to live the same day over again and again and again?
Therefore, the producers came up with a way to change it up. This time around, Nadia, who is four years older, gets on a train that time travels her back to 1982. There is something she needs to correct, but can she figure out what it is?
I want to tell you more, but I can’t because it will ruin the experience.
What I will tell you is that 7 30-minute episodes are an easy one-sitting binge. It is so good. And you never know what is going to happen next because the Nadia character is as unpredictable as the show itself. Plus, Lyonne is so captivating in the role. You want to hate her, but you can’t. So you find yourself rooting for her and hoping she can solve the mystery before it is too late. That is why it is so enjoyable, and you will want to watch it all with no break.
Now, I can’t wait to see how they top it for season 3. There better be one, Netflix.
