Sid Caesar passed away today at the age of 91 according to his friend,
Larry King. While the younger generation might not know his name, Caesar is the grandfather of television. It was his variety shows Your Show of Shows and The Sid Caesar Show that not only launched the careers of Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner and Woody Allen, he changed television forever and made it what it is today. After he stopped doing his television shows, he did some movies like It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Airport 1975, Grease and History of the World Part I to name a few.
