Grant Imahara passed away from a brain aneurysm at the age of 49, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Imahara is best known as the robot builder on Mythbusters, but he had an even cooler job before that. For nine years, he worked at LucasFilms, and he eventually he became the chief model maker specializing in animatronics. While he was there he worked on George Lucas’ Star Wars prequels, as well as The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions, Galaxy Quest, XXX: State of the Union, Van Helsing, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, A.I. Artificial Intelligence and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
However, I knew him for something different. In 2010, he created a robot sidekick for Craig Ferguson’s The Late Late Show. Geoff Peterson became a big part of the show before it ended. Hopefully, someone will plug Peterson in, and let him say goodbye to his daddy.
Today, honor Imahara by watching one of his many creations that were as lovable as him.
