Fox Atomic’s reason for the redo I don’t completely understand – for Christs sake, there were about fifty other better films, worthy of a remake, released the same year – but nonetheless, I’ll still be front row centre for this “Revenge of the Nerds” remake – computer watch and all – when it rolls into theatres next year (or will it?). My interest mainly stems from the fact that Kyle Newman, the man behind the purportedly terrific "Fanboys", is steering the ship. If anyone can take that anachronistic blueprint and add enough contemporary juice so that it speaks to today’s youngsters – then I’m all for it. Well, as long as Larry B.Scott makes a cameo as a masseuse, that is.
"The remake of Revenge of the Nerds has been put in hiatus and they have no date when the movie will start production again. Kyle Newman was able to shoot the first week and then has been on hold ever since, the crew has waited around for 10 days and finally today the word came down that everyone is headed home and no date on when or if the production will start over.
Talk has is that the studio has not been happy with the scale of the colleges and other rumors are that the movie might lose its rookie director Kyle Newman, on a side note it was McG, who is the exec producer, the one who pushed for shooting in Atlanta because he just shot We Are Marshalls here. The studio and even the director was not happy about the location from day one.
Will the the Nerds move forward…most likely but not in Atlanta.
If you use this call me Kentucky Redneck….. yee haw!"
We will keep you posted on this, and try and look into it…. But sounds pretty legit. Hopefully “Nerds” will get their own shortly – geddit? – hey?

I wonder when they do film if Ted McGinley will reprise his role because he hasn’t aged since the original one!
UPDATE: Did Emory turn down Revenge of the Nerds?
Attention, Nerds: Emory University is now nerd-free. You are not welcome there. Take your anti-jock jibes and hi-tech robot sprinklers elsewhere. Yup, Emory has belated decided it doesn’t want the Revenge of the Nerds remake filming on its campus. Possibly something about raunchiness? (VHS technology has not yet come to Emory: They had no way of vetting the original, pictured, for inapproriate content.) Anyway, all’s well with this new development… except that much of the film has already been shot. Yike. It’s as if Ogre were just made Dean or something. College PopWatchers, this is your moment. It’s time to draft a petition. You’re college students, you ought to be good at that. Here’s the angle: Below, I want you to tell me (and thus, the world, and also Canada) why your educational institution deserves to host Booger and Co. in their new incarnation. Be brief, be literate, be nerdy, and please, please, PLEASE use the phrase "hair pie."

If this is true, I think Revenge of the Nerds got lucky because Emory is a boring campus and not right for the movie!
