A to Z debuts on NBC tonight at 9:30p and you are so going to want to be in a relationship with this romantic comedy.
Andrew (Ben Feldman) works for an internet dating company and he is of the few men who still believes in love. Zelda (Cristin Milioti) is a lawyer and she has given up on love. Tonight these two opposites are going to meet and we will follow their dating relationship for the next 8 months, 3 weeks, 5 days and 1 hour. What happens on that day almost 9 months from now, we will just have to watch this adorable show each week to find out if they will break up, get engaged or who knows? Here’s a little inside information, even the actors don’t know.
Even though Andrew and Zelda meet for the first time tonight, this isn’t the first time that they have seen each other. A few years ago, they both went to the same concert and saw each other from the distance. At that moment, Andrew feel in love with that woman. A moment that seems too good to be true and perfect for television, but it really happened between the creator and his now wife. Ben Queen shared this story about his chance encounter at the NBC TCA Summer Press Tour Day. He told us, “My wife and I, we fell in love when I was 23 years old, and we got to know each other and then realized we were at the same concert a few years earlier. I remember being in that lobby, I was there with somebody I didn’t want to be with. I remember looking across and seeing this girl there and thinking, ‘I wish I was here with this girl.'” Then he added, “When I found out that she was there at that same show, I was like, ‘That obviously was you, right?’ Her take on it was, ‘Yeah, maybe,’ which is pretty much our relationship.”
As you can tell, Queen and his Queen are opposites who attracted. Well for Feldman and Milioti, it is the same thing but in a different way. Feldman explained, “We’re not only playing characters that are opposites, but we’re sort of playing characters that are opposites of us. She’s a little more like Andrew and I’m more like Zelda in real life.” To which Miloti added, “I think that’s very interesting, that the two people that they chose actually are playing opposites of each other. I would say you’re much more like Zelda.”
When it comes to the two of them getting the roles, it was instant chemistry for the actors. Queen shared this about their first meeting, “When they got together in the room to actually do the network test, they had literally met each other an hour before. It was real electric. You could see it. There was real genuine chemistry between these two that I’d been told that this thing existed, and it’s real.”
An electric feeling you will see come to life tonight and every Thursday at 9:30p in this darling love story about two people who meet, fall in love and find out they have seen each other before. So make sure to add this show to your season pass when you are done reading this because just like Andrew and Zelda, it is love at first sight.
