New Line has pulled Samuel L. Jackson’s much-buzzed-about Snakes on a Plane thriller from its press-screenings calendar, believing that fan support is strong enough to launch the film on Aug. 17. As a studio rep tells Variety, "Understanding that [the fans] would be the driving force behind the film, we decided they should be the first to see it." Boo, hissssssssss!

Normally this means death to a movie, but I do not think that is the case here. Here I think this movie is a fan’s dream and critic’s nightmare, so New Line did the right thing.
