We have seen some interesting things at Ikea, but have you ever seen a monkey in a winter coat and diapers walking around in one? Well in North York, Canada that is just what happened and the customers were able to get pictures of the well dressed monkey going bananas in the store. Can’t say I blame him because those meatballs are the best!
Sadly though this story doesn’t have a happy ending for the little guy who got out of his owner’s car. According to The Star, Animal Services discovered the monkey is a rhesus macaque, and they are prohibited in Ontario. So the owner had to pay a $200 fine for owning the 7 month old animal and he also had to sign him away. The little guy is going to be transferred to an animal sanctuary where he never will be able to shop at Ikea again.
I get that it is a banned animal, but obviously this guy loved him enough to take him out with him and get him a nice winter coat. I feel bad that the animal was taken away from him, but hopefully at his new home they are near a fashionable store so he can get some pants to go with that coat.
