There is thing called Video News Releases where PR companies send out videos with a news release that can be written as a scripts to local news stations. On busy days, producers will take that VNR and use it on their show without changing any of the words that were handed to them. Recently, there was a VNR that one or two or ten stations around the country used and Conan O’Brien compiled their broadcasts into one mashed up news segment.
And now we will have, “It’s OK! You can admit it. If you’ve a bought an item or two or ten for yourself,” forever etched into our memories. Dang you, Conan!
