Lin-Manuel Miranda and Emily Blunt are starring in this year’s most anticipated musical, Mary Poppins Returns (that is out today), so James Corden came up with an interesting way to promote their film on The Late Late Show. The trio sang songs from 22 movie musicals in 12 minutes. Films like Cabaret, Little Shop of Horrors, Annie, Fiddler on the Roof, Fame, Evita, Hairspray, Moulin Rouge and Mamma Mia just to a few.
What they accomplished is absolutely astounding. Not many people could do what they did, so I throw them bouquets of roses.
Just wish there was more Miranda and songs from these classic Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Gdspell, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, La Cage aux Folles aka The Birdcage, The Jazz Singer, 42nd Street, and every Disney musical but Beauty and the Beast. I am assuming that Andrew Lloyd Weber did not give him permission to his showtunes.
