[ # ] Kym Whitley dishes on who’s the biggest diva on the Animal Practice set!
September 26th, 2012 under NBC

Tonight at 8p Animal Practice makes its timeslot debut on NBC and I spoke Kym Whitley about the show. Kym plays Juanita, the nurse who pretty much runs the animal house and I talked to her about working with all of those animals. When I asked what that was like she said, “I am an animal lover. I love every single animal. Maybe not a snake. But I am definitely an animal lover.” She added, “I love training animals. So it is fun because we are blending two worlds together.” As we saw in the pilot they did have a snake on the show, so when I asked her what if they told she had to work with one what would she do. She told me the producers work with the actors to make sure they are comfortable working the animal they have chosen for them. So what it is the most interesting pet she has worked with so far? She told me, “A fox that only comes out at night.”
That had to be an experience, and what has she learned from this experience. Thus far the show has taught her, “I have had cats and I have had dogs. Pretty much you live with them and you don’t think about it because they are part of your life. Until this show, now I am like, I really got to start paying attention to my animals. Like, they can really do some things here.” Can we see her four-legged babies on the show. As of now no because she has been waiting because she “didn’t want to rush it.”
Now the big star (besides the talented and funny Kym Whitley) on the show is Crystal the Monkey and I had to find out from her, who is the biggest Diva on the set. She didn’t hesitate to tell me, “Crystal is by far the biggest Diva on the set. Crystal wants bananas, coffee in the morning, she gets her nails done, she has to have her hair combed and she takes 3 naps.” Of course she was joking. And it is her humor, the writing and the wonderfully put together ensemble that make up the enjoy Animal Practice. The NBC sitcom is so much that 4 out 5 vets recommend it, the lone hold out doesn’t have a television.
