A week and a half ago, King Charles III went into the hospital for a procedure on his enlarged prostate. The surgery was successful, but doctors noticed something when he was there.
The doctors ran tests, and today, Buckingham Palace released a statement about the results.
During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.
His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.
The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.
His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.
Hopefully, it is a curable cancer, and the 75-year-old will be able to enjoy a long life like his parents.
King Charles III is the second person in as many weeks in the British Royal Family to be diagnosed with cancer. His ex-sister-in-law Sarah Fergurson revealed on January 22nd that she has malignant melanoma, a form of skin cancer. And we still do not know why Princess Kate underwent abdominal surgery three weeks ago.
UPDATE: According to ITV News’ Chris Ship, King Charles III does not have prostate cancer. He added that he is being treated as an outpatient, so he will still be able to do his Head of State duties via the phone.
UPDATE 1: ITV News’ Chris Ship says that Prince Harry was made aware of his father’s diagnosis and will be traveling back to London in the next few days to see him.
