The Big Bang Theory was supposed to have their first table read of the season today, but the cast didn’t show up. Why? Because the original 5 are going through contract negotiations with the studio. They want more money, a lot more money and as of today they haven’t gotten what they wanted. According to
The Hollywood Reporter the first group which consists of Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki all want a million dollars (up from $325,000) an episode plus a cut of the show’s back end. While Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar are also asking for a hefty raise, their amount is unknown.
I am sorry, but I don’t think anyone is worth getting $22 million a year. Yes, it’s TV’s top comedy but are they really worth that much? I say no. But then again, you can’t blame them because when this show is done, so will their careers be also. They pretty much are typecasted now and it will be hard for them to find other work. They might be able to, but still it will be hard. I mean, I saw Jim Parsons, in his first non-TBBT role and all I saw was Sheldon. I am sure I am not the only one. Galecki, has more money than he needs after being on two huge hit sitcoms. I am sure Cuoco will do a few telemovies and maybe another series. And when it comes to Nayyar and Helberg, although both of then are fine comedic actors, I just don’t see them doing anything else.
Plus, I thought TBBT was starting to show its age last season, and I am not sure how much longer it can remain the #1 comedy. Here’s to hoping ABC sneaks up ahead of them on Wednesdays.
Do you think the cast is worth more money or they should be happy with what they got?
Finally the first thing I want to hear if they get their huge a$$ raises, is we donated some of earnings to a charity. When was the last time you heard that after a big raise? I am talking to you The Simpsons and Modern Family cast? I could be wrong, but I don’t remember hearing any of their money going to a good cause. Did you?
