Madonna plans to adopt a child during her humanitarian mission in Malawi to help orphans and the underprivileged, a government official has said. The pop star and an entourage of 10 people landed on a private plane in the capital Lilongwe with no fanfare. Andrina Mchiela, secretary to the Minister for Gender and Child Welfare, said Madonna planned to adopt a Malawian child during her visit to the southern Africa nation. She is also meant to fund six projects to benefit underprivileged children, including setting up an orphanage. The pop star earlier this year announced plans to raise at least three million dollars (£1.6m) for programmes to support the nearly one million children in Malawi who have lost parents to Aids. Malawi is among the poorest countries in the world, hit by years of drought as well as an Aids epidemic.

I hope this not a Hollywood trend and these kids will later be ignored. Although I think Madonna really loves her children and will be a great mom to the child she adopts if she really is adopting a child.
