Tarek El Moussa announced that he is about to do his biggest flip ever in North Hollywood. And the residents in the area were happy about it. That is, until they got eviction notices on the doors of their rent-controlled homes.

“We’d love to talk to Tarek or the city about maybe developing in the empty lot, maybe developing on the other side of the building,” tenant Jonpaul Rodriguez told KABC. “Because we’re talking about three different properties here and maybe restoring this.”

However, El Moussa rep told the station, “The goal is to work closely and respectfully with the current tenants by providing proper move-out compensation and constructing a safe and pristine new apartment complex that will also include 14 low-income units.”

I don’t know how much those low-income units are going for. But a lot of the new apartment buildings going up in the area are asking for over $3,000 for a one-bedroom apartment. Who can afford to pay that much money these days?

I really hope that now that this story has gotten out there that HGTV reconsiders what they are doing. Because throwing people out of their homes for ratings is going to lead to some really bad karma for them. Oh, wait, they already got that with their money-hungry boss David Zaslav, who is doing nothing but destroying Warner Bros and people’s lives. It is like he enjoys making people homeless as he builds himself a bigger home. Money doesn’t buy happiness, and I hope that is true for Zaslav.
