Haribo’s Happy-Cola gummies were living up to their name, happy in the Netherlands, and because of that, bags with the production code L341-4002307906 are being recalled.
According to PZC, several people became ill after eating the candy. One family in Twente took the bag to the police after their kids got sick. The police tested the gummies and found traces of marijuana. They shared their findings with the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority, which ordered the recall.
At this time, it is unknown how this happened, but police are looking into it, as is Haribo. “We are taking this incident extremely seriously,” says a spokesperson for the Dutch office. “The investigation concerns a limited number of reports and one specific product in the east of the country. As a precaution, we have started a recall.”
Hopefully, it is contained to just that production number.
