Tonight at 8p, Gotham, the most anticipated new show of the season debuts on Fox and you won’t be disappointed.
Gotham is the prequel to Batman, so the city’s most notorious residents are basically unknowns. We will see their backstories come to life as we watch Bruce Wayne grow up to be a man, Batman to be exact.
I am not a Caped Crusader aficionado, but I was still able to spot many of the characters without their famous looks. That makes the show so much fun for newbies like me and fans alike.
Before James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) was the commissioner, he just got promoted to detective. The city is corrupt and so is his partner, Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue). Although, there might be some redeeming qualities to him.
The two of them have just been partnered up and their first case is a murder. It is a high profile one because the murdered couple are two Gotham’s wealthiest people, Thomas and Martha Wayne. Their 12-year-old son, Bruce (David Mazouz), witnessed the shooting and he is the only survivor. Gordon promises the future superhero that he will do everything in his power to capture this guy.
For Gordon, that means his partner and him will go to Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) for help. She has a deal with the department, she works with them and they let her get away with a lot. She doesn’t work alone, and several of the villains we know get their start with her. The first one you will recognize is Oswald Cobblepot played by Robin Lord Taylor. Taylor’s portrayal of Penguin is so spot on that by the end of the episode you will be saying that he is the break out male star of the season.
I don’t want to tell you too much more because I want you to watch this as kid reading a comic book for the first time.
Gotham truly is like you are watching a movie every week, but you are only watching a TV show that has so much more to offer.
You don’t have to be a Comic Book geek to love this show. If you are one, then you probably are going to love this show just as much. Maybe even more than us newbies. I know my dad sounded like a little boy when he was describing the backstories to me after he watched a promo for the show yesterday. I had to cheat today to find out who was who, and he knows them all by heart. He will not be alone. I have a feeling there will be plenty of men who will become boys again tonight as they watch the series premiere of Gotham.

Then at 9p, good things come to those who wait. Sleepy Hollow is finally back!
The episode picks up a year after the season finale. Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and Abby Mills (Nicole Beharie) are together again and they are remembering the people they loved and lost that night. For the last year, things have been quiet in Sleepy Hollow, and now they are getting noisy again because the Headless Horseman is back.
Now they have to prepare to fight him and they are ready. But are they truly up for it?
You just have to tune in to find out and for an hour of surprises after shocks followed by OMG moments, and that is only the first half of the show. You don’t want to miss Sleepy Hollow because it is anything but sleepy or hollow!
I know a lot people are saying that Thursday nights on ABC has the best pairings of shows on television this season, and they are so wrong. It’s all about Mondays on Fox because this is the best pairing of shows since I don’t know when. This is the strongest night for any network, sorry Shondaland fans but this is night that everyone will be talking about the next day.
