In less than two months, Flossie is going to celebrate her 27th birthday. Why is that a big deal? Because Flossie is a cat, and no other feline has been recorded to live as long as her. Because of that, Guinness World Records has declared she is World’s Oldest Living Cat.
Flossie is newly adopted by Vicki Green. The cat was originally adopted as a kitten in 1995, but her mother passed away ten years later. The owner’s sister took the kitty in until she passed away 14 years after her sister. Then that woman’s son decided to bring the feline home. However, after a couple of years, he did not feel that he could take care of Flossie, who is now deaf and going blind. So he brought her into Cats Protection, who knew that Vicki would be the purrfect mom for Flossie’s final years.
Vicki is ensuring that her new best friend will have the best life possible, so she is spoiling her with love and food. Because what else does a cat want?
While Flossie is the oldest living cat, she is not the oldest cat to have lived. That title goes to Creme Puff, who lived from August 3, 1967, until August 6, 2005. 38 years old is going to be a nearly impossible record to break, as much as we would love our cats to live that long.
