September 30th, 2014 under ABC

Tonight at 8p Selfie debuts on ABC, and you will want to take a picture of it so that you can remember how you felt as you watched it. Then you are going to want to post it on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, so everyone can tell you how much they like it too. And if they comment, you can so comment back.
Eliza Doolittle (Karen Gillan) loves to take Selfies and she also loves that she has thousands and thousands of followers who love to see those photos of her. She is all about her outside even if all of it isn’t real. Even her best friend isn’t real because it is her phone and no one can come between them.
Then one day her whole life will change. She finds out the guy she has been dating at work is married. She discovers this when she is on a plane with most of her co-workers, so let’s just say she has to use the plane’s airbags. Yes, that is plural. She decides to go to the bathroom with the full bags and as she makes the trek from first class to the back of the plane, they break open all over her. Now she is covered with her puke, embarrassed and stuck in the bathroom until they land.
When she gets home, she realizes that she doesn’t have any friends who don’t have an @ before their name. To make matters worse when she goes to work the next day, she is the office joke.
During a meeting, her boss praises Henry Higgs (John Cho) for turning things around for a product. He took something that was so heinous and made it OK again.
So Eliza thinks if he can do that with that product, why can’t he do that with her. Therefore, she asks him to help her out by making her a better person. Reluctantly this uptight guy who is the complete opposite of her offers to help her out. A job that won’t be easy for him.
Even though they are polar opposites, they actually have something in common. Both of them are alone and don’t have any friends in their lives. But working together will help both of them out even it seems like an impossible chore.
What it isn’t an impossible chore is watching this endearing show that is a snapshot of today’s viral world. You’d think we should hate Karen Gillan and John Cho because their characters are so reprehensible, but you can’t help but to love them. Just like the romantic comedy.

Then at 8:30p it is time for the sweet Manhattan Love Story on ABC.
Dana (Analeigh Tipton) just moved across the country to Manhattan for her dream job and she is once again living with her college roommate. Since they were in school together, Amy (Jade Catta-Preta_ has gotten married. Amy arranges it so that her brother-in-law, Peter (Jake McDorman) takes Dana out on a date.
Sounds like the dream situation? It isn’t. The publishing company that hired Dana to work for them is going through some financial problems and they are letting people go. The employees that are still there, think she is there to take their job so they make her life hell. That is just her first day.
Now after an awful day, she has to go out with a complete stranger. She’s tired, she looks like crap and she is super emotional.
Peter is one of those guys, you know the one that dates around. He is not used to a girl like her. So when she breaks down during their dinner date, he doesn’t stop her when she leaves and takes her home. Something that would be much easier on him if his brother (Nicolas Wright) wasn’t living with her and his sister-in-law wasn’t so controlling.
Now he has to do it all over again, but will it work out better this time?
You will just have to listen to their thoughts to find out. That’s right, this sitcom is narrated by both leads so you know what is going through both of their minds.
So you get the his and her perspectives on life, love and work in the land of the Big Apple. Which makes this show a must watch because it will make anyone feel good.
Remember that feeling you got when you watched Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks together in movies like Sleepless in Seattle? Well that is the feeling you will get when you watch Analeigh Tipton and Jake McDorman share the screen together. Watch out for Tipton because she is a star if the future.
