ABC shocked a lot of people yesterday when they cancelled Castle which seemed like a sure bet for at least a shortened season. Today, Nathan Fillion Tweeted his goodbye to the show and I think he comes off as a d!ck.
He said, “All things must end. It has been an honor working with the men and women of Castle. I am truly amazed at what we’ve done. Thank you all.” Now I get that you can only use 140 characters for each Tweet, but the expression is, “All GOOD things must come to an end.” Maybe I am reading too much into it, but does him leaving the word “good” out, hint that he didn’t feel that way about it?
Then he followed up that Tweet with a message for the viewers, “Dear Fans, In whatever project I do next, loudly notice how unlike Castle and fresh and versatile I am. Thanks.” Is that his way of saying that he hated the character they created for him? I, personally, find that he plays the same role in everything he does. So I am not expecting to “loudly notice” a difference. Are you?
No matter what went down during the last few days with Castle, I don’t think he should’ve sh!t on the show that kept him employed for the last 8 years and earned him a lot of fans. How many actors would love to have that opportunity? Pretend that you have a little more respect for your job in public. People and the press don’t forget. Ask the likes of Chevy Chase, David Caruso and Katherine Heigl.
Even Stana Katic, who was fired from the show, hand wrote a much sweeter goodbye than him.
How do you think he came off in his Tweets?

I think your interpretation is self indulgent because you thrive on made up drama. Sounds to me like he knows he is getting up there and needs to be seen as an actor not just a hunk.
Eight years is a hella long run. I’ve never even seen the show in its entirety. I don’t see where he shit on anything.

You don’t get his sense of humor. It was a joke about how tied fans were to his firefly character. He’s looking to the future.

Talk about interpreting things to suit your preconceived ideas. I suppose bloggers don’t have to pretend to be open minded or unbiased.

He came off fine, the author of this article sounds like all those women who were living vicariously through this show, and lost their minds when ABC fired this Stana chick

“In whatever project I do next, loudly notice how unlike Castle and fresh and versatile I am.”

Let’s try it this way…

“Notice how in my next project, unlike Castle, how fresh and versatile my character is.”

Obviously, unlike his character Castle, he didn’t have an editor to fall back on. Also, it means he already has a job lined up. Fan boys start your engines…

I think you may be reading too much into it.

Plus, it’s Twitter… there’s nothing really worth saying in 140 characters or less.
