After 14 incredible years, Degrassi is graduating from TeenNick in July. The network announced the news today and my heart is breaking. Just when the show was old enough to go to high school, they pulled the plug on the show about high school.
For 2 weeks starting on July 20th, TeenNick will air the final 12 episodes. Then on July 31st, they will air a special called It Goes There: Degrassi’s Most Talked About Moments followed by the hour long series finale.
I just can’t comprehend their decision. The show was a great way for teens and forever-teens to learn lessons that their patents and teachers weren’t teaching them and so much more. I think it is one of them most important shows for students and it is a real shame it’s ending.
Hopefully, in 10 years we will get the next generation of Degrassi, just like Degrassi: The Next Generation came out of Degrassi High after a decade.
On that note, I hope a lot of the originals come back for the series finale, just like a lot of people from the first series returned for the new one when it started out.
How do you feel about this awful news?
