Dave Coulier was on Today this morning, and he shared with Hoda Kotb that five weeks ago, he was diagnosed with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that starts in the lymphatic system.
The Full House star had a cold and noticed that there was a large lump in his groin area that wasn’t there. So he went to get it looked at, and after a biopsy, they told him it was cancer.
The next test told him it was stage 3, and he says that it has a 90% cure rate.
In the last five weeks, he has undergone three surgeries and his first round of chemo. His next round is on Friday.
If all goes as planned, he should be in remission in February. A month after that, he will become a first-time grandfather.
Why did he come forward? “The one thing that just kept presenting itself to me was to tell other people about it. Talk to them about getting something as simple as pre-screening or a breast exam, mammogram, a colonoscopy, or a prostate exam,” he says. “It’s a really simple thing to do and it can add years to your life.”
Hopefully, he will beat this and enjoy many years with this grandchild.
