The Bachelor franchise is like a Soap Opera so it would make sense the producers would want a Soap star to be their suitor.
Therefore, they reached out to the Soap legend Susan Lucci. While her All My Children character, Erica Kane, was married 11 times, the actress was only married once in real life. That is kind of like the premise of the dating show. There is one person holding the rose, but several people who want it. So in that way, Lucci would be perfect as the lead.
Lucci has been a widow for two years, so ABC wanted to fix her up with a new man on The Golden Bachelorette.
The Emmy winner told People that their people reached out to her people and asked if she wanted to join the show. She told them that it isn’t for her.
While she won’t be going from Soap Queen to Queen B on The Bachelorette in the Fall, she will be watching. It is a recent guilty pleasure thanks to her assistant.
