VH1 has once again partnered with Dr. Drew Pinsky for a second season of the hit reality series “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.†The series, consisting of eight one-hour episodes, is slated to premiere Thursday, October 23 at 10pm.
Similar to the first cycle, the second season of “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew†will follow the real-life experiences of celebrity patients undergoing detoxification and treatment at a center in the Los Angeles area. The show will follow Jeff Conaway as he checks back into rehab after a series of back surgeries, setbacks and subsequent reliance on pain medications. Joining him in rehab are Sean Stewart (Sons of Hollywood), Amber Smith (model/actress), Rodney King, Nikki McKibbon (American Idol), Steven Adler (Guns n Roses) and Tawny Kitaen (Actress). Gary Busey, who is 13 years sober from his cocaine addiction, will also be joining the cast to take the journey with the others and to share his experiences on the recovery process.
Celebrity Rehab is back on VH1 tonight at 10p and this season is so much better than last year’s. This season has Gary Busey who thinks he is there to be a counselor and not a resident. Some of the stories he tells about his past are amazing like sniffing coke off of his dog. And yes those Busey acronyms are all over the show. But hopefully not for long because Dr Drew finally gives him a much needed diagnosis. Also this season Jeff Conaway is back for his second round with Dr Drew and he is not doing it alone. His girlfriend Vicki decided to also get help, but she is getting next door. The soulmates can’t bear to be apart and that is something that can hurt their much needed progress. Tawny Kitaen, like Gary is sober, but also is still fighting some demons. Amber Smith’s story is really compelling and I hope she makes it through. Steven Adler has been doing drugs and alcohol since his mother threw him out of the house when he was just 11. He is experiencing the most days he has been sober since then and we are talking just 2 weeks. Besides getting help from Dr Drew, they are getting help from one another.
This show is amazing and takes you in to rehab. To me the best way to see not to do drugs and alcohol is it to see their effects and what better way than when the person has sunk to their lowest and admit they have a problem. So this is a must-watch show for parents as a guide to prevent this from happening. Yes they are famous, but the problem and rehab are the same. So tune into Celebrity Rehab tonight and every Thursday at 10p!
