Whitney Houston appears to have rid herself of hubby Bobby Brown. Whether he gets back into the house may depend on hip-hop temptress Karrine Steffans. Houston’s friends have long blamed Brown for her woefully heavy eyelids. So they’re praying she has the strength to change the locks. Good thing, then, that he’s been distracted by Karrine. You remember Karrine. Back when she was, as she puts it, "a coke whore," hip-hop playas called her Superhead. But then she sobered up and wrote a best seller, "Confessions of a Video Vixen," recounting the bedroom (and backseat) quirks of Usher, Diddy, Vin Diesel, Shaquille O’Neal and Ja Rule, among others. She also wrote about Bobby – their bizarre 2002 encounter when "he told me he was a member of Al Qaeda and that President Bush was looking for him." Lately, she’s been seen around L.A. with him. So what’s up with them? "It’s a really tricky situation," she told us this week, as she test-drove a Mercedes SLK 280. "He is my dearest friend. But I’m not saying it’s romantic. We won’t know what it is till we’re ready. "There’s a wife and children involved," the single mom went on. "I don’t want to wreck any marriages. But if a marriage is already wrecked, that’s not my fault." So she and Bobby have been intimate? "It’s none of your business," she scolded. "I’m still celibate. And if you believe that, I’ll tell you another one." "Look," she said, shifting the Benz into a higher gear, "there are way bigger things in the works than a romance. I’m a businesswoman. Bobby and I are working together on some things." Somebody told online gossip Janet Charleton that Karrine is "using Bobby because she wants her own reality show." "Please," she said. "You think I need Bobby Brown to get a reality show? I’ve turned down four reality shows." And what about the supposed "love of my life," Bill Maher? In April, Karrine told us that she was so besotted by the comic that "I will never be with another man." "We still talk," she says. "I’m going to have dinner with Bill next week" to celebrate her 28th birthday. As for Whitney, she says, "I’ve never met her, but I’m a big fan. I want her to come back and sing her heart out." Keep Bobby busy, Karrine, and she just might.

Terror mastermind Osama bin Laden is so obsessed with singer Whitney Houston he thought about killing her husband, Bobby Brown, it was claimed last night.The suggestion is made by Sudanese poet and novelist Kola Boof, who claims she was bin Laden’s sex slave for four months 10 years ago.In her autobiography, Diary of a Lost Girl, she writes: "He told me Whitney Houston was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen."Boof, 37, who claims bin Laden raped her and held her prisoner in a Moroccan hotel, says he could not stop talking about the songbird, even though he disapproved of music."Osama kept coming back to Whitney Houston," she says in the book, excerpted in the magazine Harpers’ Bazaar. "He asked if I knew her personally when I lived in America. I told him I didn’t."He said that he had a paramount desire for Whitney Houston, and although he claimed music was evil he spoke of someday spending vast amounts of money to go to America and try to arrange a meeting with the superstar."It didn’t seem impossible to me. Does Whitney Houston KNOW what her husband Bobby Brown is up to? Does she CARE? Bobby, according to a friend, has moved into the home of the notorious Video Vixen Karrine Steffans. This is the woman (nicknamed "Superhead") who wrote the outrageous book revealing the sex habits of her many famous conquests from Jay-Z, Shaq, Ja Rule, and Bobby, too. Whitney was reportedly furious when she heard Bobby had cheated with Karrine while they were together. Things have gone downhill ever since. Karrine, described by many as a "gold digger" has been hanging with Bobby for the past month.They’ve been seen together at the Grove mall (with Bobby’s kids) and several times at the private club Xenii. (Once Bobby even brought his kids to the club till 5 AM. )Our insider snipes that Karrine is USING Bobby because she wants her own reality show and Bobby’s TV producers are often with him, trying to resuscitate Being Bobby Brown. Is this the last straw for Whitney?

Bobby Brown was back with New Edition – and his ostentatious behaviour stood out when he was paired with the soulful group.Brown, who left New Edition in the 1980s for a solo career, reunited with the band Sunday night for two songs at the Essence Music Festival. As the other five members moved to slick choreography Sunday, Brown ran around the stage wildly and performed raunchy dance moves. The crowd was brought to its feet with their performance of the 1985 hit, Mr. Telephone Man. Brown then left the stage, and the remainder of the group – original members Ralph Tresvant, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe, plus Johnny Gill, who replaced Brown – performed several ballads. Brown followed with a solo set that started with Don’t Be Cruel, then quickly turned to more raunchy dancing and talk about his sex life with wife Whitney Houston. By the time he finished with My Prerogative, Brown was shirtless and many in the audience were screaming for him to get off the stage.

Guess what! Our favorite singing-trainwreck, Whitney Houston, is finally ready to clean up her act. (Again?)

Singer Cherelle (Houston’s best friend) told Sister 2 Sister magazine that Houston accepted an invitation from Denzel Washington and Mel Gibson to go to LA for “straight detox.” It seems Houston was upset over comments her sister-in-law, Tina Brown (No, not THAT Tina Brown — can you imagine?) made about Houston being a crack-addicted mess. Earlier this year, Brown sold photos to the National Enquirer of Houston’s disgusting, crack-house bathroom. (Or would that be a “crack-mansion”?)

Despite all that, Cherelle denied to the magazine that Houston had a drug problem — huh? — but admitted Houston was "messy" … as in “sloppy” … as in, just doesn’t know how to clean. Mmm-hmmm. Lots of untidy people need to go to “straight detox”, right? Heck, every time we don’t make our bed, we get the shakes.
