Charlene made it to the final round of Wheel of Fortune the other night. All she had to do was guess the correct phrase on the board. And she did. But she took too long of a pause between Choosing The Right and Word, so Pat Sajak told her that she didn’t win the prize, which was an Audi Q3.
Well, needless to say, fans were royally upset over it. No one more than Audi themselves. Therefore, they wrote on Twitter, “You’re a winner in our eyes, Charlene. Now, let’s get you a prize. Time to #GiveHerTheQ3.”
Twitter did their magic, and Charlene was put in touch with the car company. Now, we just have to wait for her to claim her prize. Good thing she also won $16,500 on the game show because she can use that to pay for the taxes on the car that she was given as a present. Nothing is ever for free.
I respect Audi for standing up and doing the right thing. Even if Wheel of Fortune’s rules forbade them from doing the right thing in the first place. Bah humbug to the rules.
Today is Double Dare’s Marc Summers’ 70th birthday, and Pat Sajak, 75, sent him an ominous tweet for it.
The Wheel of Fortune host wrote, “Happy birthday, Marc. After this season, I’ll have just two years left on Wheel. As a much younger man, you might start currying favor with Sony.”
How did Summers react to that offer? He responded with, “Already done! 🤪” But then he replied to that tweet with, “Actually, I hope your daughter continues the legacy. 🤞”
Do you think Sajak will really retire? You couldn’t blame him if he did, but I hope he doesn’t. He is as much the game show as the game show is him.
It has been a difficult few months for Sony’s TV game shows Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. However, today we got some good news on the latter. Pat Sajak and Vanna White renewed their contracts through 2024.
Along with the contract renewal news, we learned there are going to be a lot of changes happening on the show starting on Monday. Sajak is now a consulting producer. He is not the only Sajak on the program now. His daughter is joining the series. Maggie Sajak will be sharing behind-the-scenes access and interviews with the hosts, staff, crew, and contestants on social media.
There are also going to be gameplay changes. For starters, Sajak is no longer going to turn the wheel for the Final Spin. Instead, the contestant in control will do it. “If you think about it, by doing the Final Spin I, as host, had an impact on the outcome of the game and that has always bothered me because it just didn’t feel right,” said Sajak. “With this change, only the contestants determine the outcome of the game and the host does not impose themself in any way.”
The wheel is also getting some changes. The Free Play wedge is gone, and it will be replaced by an $850 one. They also changed the minimum amount of the Bonus Wheel to $39,000 for the show’s 39th season.
Finally, expect to see a refreshed set and music. Other than that, it is all the same.
There have been reports that Pat Sajak has been sarcastic with some of the contestants on Wheel of Fortune. Now, he is doing the same to Vanna White.
When one of the contestants guessed the letter D, the letter turner couldn’t find it on the board. Therefore, Sajak had to tell her where to look for it. That was fine.
Then when they got to the next letter, Sajak said to White, “Can you find it?” Then he followed it up with, “Boy, I am just feisty today.” That he was, and White is too nice to be feisty back. I hope she gets her revenge on him in some way, whether it is on camera or not.
For those of you who are wondering why she couldn’t find the letter, she explained what happened. “She called a D. And I am so far away, it sounded like a different letter. So, I was going to a different letter,” she said. White also didn’t mind him helping her. However, she didn’t say if she liked the dig he made afterward.
However, considering they have been working together for nearly 40 years, I am sure they are always used to goofing around like that like most friends of four decades do.
Vanna White and Pat Sajak have been working together on Wheel of Fortune for 38 years. In all of that time, they have had one fight.
Today when the letter turner was on The Drew Berrymore Show, she told the host what it was over. White likes to put ketchup on her hot dogs. Sajak called her out on that being gross. I side with Sajak and Barrymore on this issue. Ketchup has no place on a hot dog. That place belongs to mustard and sauerkraut. As you can tell, I am a New Yorker, and that is how we eat our frankfurters.
Seriously, could you imagine only having only one fight with someone in 38 years. I already fought with my cat twice in 38 minutes. Make that three times.
