Tonight is the season finale of In Plain Sight on USA at 10p and it is the best episode of the season. Tonight is Brandi’s wedding and she is starting to have cold feet. Mary is trying to calm her down, until she gets lucky when she is called away on a case. Well lucky until a quick in and out turns into something more and the Marshalls getting shot at. Will she be able to make it back to the wedding alive? Besides Mary dealing with her sister’s wedding, she is also dealing with the father of her unborn child finding out that he is going to be father.
A big part of the season was Mary McCormack’s real life pregnancy and earlier this week Frederick Weller and her talked to us about the new addition to the show with a few of us on a conference call. Mary told us she knew she was pregnant before she started filming the second part of the fourth season, but kept her pregnancy secret at the beginning.
She said, “Oh, you know, I mean, when I – I knew I was pregnant. Obviously, I got pregnant sort of right before I showed up for the season, but I couldn’t really tell anyone. I told Fred of course right away, but I didn’t tell anyone else because I was afraid at my age, you’re, you know, it’s obviously really risky. And so, when I told the President of the Network and then the showrunners, we told the showrunners together, it was further along and we had to make a decision fast about what we were going to do. And Jeff Wachtel, who I think is really – has such a keen sense of story and drama, he’s the President of USA, he sort of said, ‘You know, this is, in a weird way,’ I mean we discussed first my wishes and whether I was willing to write it in, and I was. And then, we started talking about the pros and cons story-wise and character-wise, and he was sort of excited about it, you know, as long as I was comfortable with it. He was excited about the opportunities that it would create for Season 4, because I think, you know, shows have to – his point was line in Season 4 he looks to – he looks for showrunners or he looks for the creator to shake things up, because otherwise things can get pretty stale. And so we all decided to do it, and then we had to move fast, story-wise. I think the writers had a ten-day hiatus already scheduled, which worked out great, because they rewrote a bunch of stories and came up with, you know, Mark being the father of the baby and what it would mean, and how it would change the shape of the season, so they had to work really fast and they did a great job.”
If you are in the minority like me and wanted her real life baby to be fathered by Marshall on the show, they both told us that they did not want that just yet. Mary said, “when we made that decision, so it had to be someone – you know, we needed to – I think if it had been Marshall we would have skipped so many steps and I think the audience would have felt robbed.” Fred added, “I think that Mary and Marshall should and will hook up at some point, but it’s a little bit like the Escape from Gilligan’s Island. I mean, what comes after it is going to be tricky.”
Now that has been cleared up, what won’t be cleared up until season 5 is if Mary will keep her baby. In fact the actors don’t know what will happen next.
And on that note, here’s a little personal tidbit; Mary doesn’t know the sex of her baby that is due next month nor does she have a name picked out. So I suggested she go with her co-star Frederick’s name and he agreed!
Take a look at the above pictures that WireImage took of Matt Bomer as he prepped to film a scene of White Collar and don’t tell me it doesn’t looks more like he is doing a photoshoot for GQ than doing a scene for his USA show. Not many men can do what he did in those pictures, and that is OK with me as long as keeps looking sexy every time the camera snaps a shot of him!

Hey, hey, hey, hey Psych took a much needed summer break and will be back on TV this October. Well Shawn and Gus want you to remember about them, so much so they recreated the music video for Simple Minds Don’t You Forget About Me as reminder they are still with us and up to their normal hijinx. For me it was great fix to tide me over until they are back on USA this fall. I see that it is going to be a great season, don’t you?
BTW here is the original music video, how do you think they did?
On tonight’s Covert Affairs at 10p on USA we find out how Auggie lost his sight and Chris Gorham gives a brilliant performance as he goes after the man who caused him to lose his sight.
Auggie travels to Istanbul to get revenge on the man that blinded him and tells his co-workers that he has gone there for a music festival. When Annie becomes suspicious of his motives she steps in to action trying to stop him but will she get to him before it is too late?
Before we get to that we will get flashbacks of what lead to the moment that changed his life in this powerful well done episode. The show will end with Auggie telling a secret he has never told anyone before and you will be left wanting to hug him for being so brave and Chris Gorham for doing such an amazing job during it.
Tune in to Covert Affairs tonight for the most intense episode of the show thus far.
Royal Pains is back for its third season on USA at 9p and it picks up months after the last one ended. Hank and Evan have found a new place to live and it really isn’t ideal for the two of them. Will they be able to find a new place fast?
Divya is still single and working for them, and her parents haven’t forgiven her for calling off the wedding. What repercussions will there be for her and there will be some?
There is a lot of love in question for all of them on tonight’s season premiere, but things will be heating up just like The Hamptons in the summer.
Besides dealing with their personal lives, they are still saving people and will do so in a grand way to start off the season with a bang!
I am so glad this show is back because it makes summer TV less dull.
And then at 10p the less dullness continues with the brand new show Necessary Roughness. When I saw it for the first time, I half-a$$ed watched it and wasn’t wowed by it. Then last night I watched it again and I was blown away by how this show scored a touchdown with me.
Callie Thorne plays a happily married Long Island mother of two teenagers, who also works as a therapist from her house. Everything is perfect until she checks her husband’s cell phone and finds pictures of several woman scantily dressed. So she kicks him out of the house and asks for divorce and her life is changed forever.
A few weeks after her split she goes out to a bar with her best friend and meets a guy that will turn her life upside down. Mark Blucas works as a physical therapist for the local professional football team. One of the player’s problems is not physical, but mental and his boss hires her to fix him. It won’t be easy but she is going to try her hardest with a no holds barred type of therapy. If she succeeds it will help change her barely making money business into a money making one.
Besides work she has to deal with a husband (Craig Bierko) who doesn’t want to give her divorce and two kids who struggling with it and acting out.
How will she balance it all? We will have to watch each week to find in this show that is different than the other shows on USA, but just as great.
And finally Callie Thorne is so perfect for this role that I could not picture anyone else playing it. Even though I am sad that Rescue Me is ending, knowing I can watch her on this Necessary Roughness is therapy enough for me.
