Will MyNetwork no longer be all telenovelas all the time? |

MyNetworkTV is considering cutting back on its strategy of "all telenovelas, all the time," sources said. The network, which launched Sept. 5, has a schedule comprising two 13-week drama strips, with new episodes airing Monday-Friday and hourlong recaps airing Saturday. But in light of underwhelming ratings for the dramas, network executives are exploring other options, which could include reducing the number of nights on which the dramas air or throwing nondrama series programming into the mix, sources said. The first two dramas, "Desire" and the Bo Derek-Morgan Fairchild starrer "Fashion House," each averaged a 0.7 household rating/1 share over their 13-week run. The newest dramas — "Wicked Wicked Games," starring Tatum O’Neal, and "Watch Over Me," starring Casper Van Dien and Catherine Oxenberg — debuted Dec. 6. In their first week on the air (a partial week consisting of three days because the shows debuted on a Wednesday), "Games" averaged a 0.7/1 among households, while "Watch" averaged a 0.6/1. As for any possible on-air changes, it’s believed there’s no timetable for a potential revamping of the programming strategy. A MyNetworkTV representative declined comment other than to say "we have lots of meetings." When parent News Corp. announced the network in February, it said that it had several shows in development along with the dramas. Among those in the works were "Catwalk," a reality-competition series involving aspiring models; "Celebrity Love Island," a Granada series that would bring together six celebrities and six singles; "America’s Brainiest," a quiz show from Celador; and "On Scene," an investigative series that would put viewers at the scenes of crimes and with the people who solve them.
The Hollywood Reporter
Although I have not watched a single episode of any of the shows, the shows have helped a lot of actors get work and for that reason alone I hope they stay on the air. But I seriously doubt the MyNetwork is going to keep them on the air.

Another failed Bachelor couple? |
December 7th, 2006 under 50 Cent, The Bachelor, TV Reality. [ Comments: none ]

Is there trouble in reality show paradise? Jennifer Wilson, the winner of “The Bachelor: Rome” is already cheating on her bachelor, according to the National Enquirer. Just weeks after accepting a ring from Prince Lorenzo Borghese, the teacher from Pembroke Pines, Florida, is secretly dating Dan Herrero, another teacher from the school where she works, reports the tab. “I can’t believe I had just watched her accept the last rose from Prince Lorenzo on television, then only days later she was making out with Dan!” a source told the Enquirer. “When Dan asked Jennifer about what she was going to do about Lorenzo, she told him point blank that she doesn’t have any romantic feelings for him at all and has absolutely no intention of following through with their plans to start a future together,” says the pal. Wilson didn’t respond to the tab’s requests for comment, but Herrero adamantly denied the story, insisting that he’s merely “good friends” with Wilson. Three days later, however, they were spotted frolicking on a beach together, and the tab carried the photographs.

So they are 1 for 9 and they wonder why they lose viewers every season? Personally I have never seen the show and now I know why!

The NBC show, which will cast the two lead roles in the Broadway revival of Grease, debuts on the broadcast network Jan. 7, 2007, at 8 PM (ET). "Access Hollywood" co-anchor Billy Bush and U.K. television and theatre star Denise Van Outen will host the show, which kicks off with two one-and-a-half hour shows (on Jan. 7 and 14) before continuing on Sunday nights in an hour-long format. Jai Rodriguez (Rent, "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy") and Marissa Jaret Winokur (Tony Award winner from Hairspray) will also participate. Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall (The Pajama Game) will direct and choreograph the new Broadway production as well as judge the competition> Her judging co-horts will be Grease co-creator Jim Jacobs and theatre producer David Ian. Paul Nicholas and David Ian Associates, Nederlander Presentations and Phoenix Productions will produce the Broadway run of the show, which begins rehearsals on or about April 1, 2007. The musical Grease – by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey – debuted on Broadway Feb. 14, 1972 and captured the spirit of audiences with its the 1950’s-set all-American lovestory of two teens from opposite sides of the fence who fall in love one summer only to discover each other again, this time attending Rydell High School. Will the "bad boy" and the "good girl" be able to rekindle their romance amid the politics of high school?
Playbill
As much as I love Adrian Zmed, I have to wonder if Grease 2 counts? And I did not know that Barry Bostwick was the original Danny Zuko, I bet he was great in the role! BTW can you believe two Grease posts in one day? On that note, I think we can conclude that we can count out Olivia Newton-John in the show, don’t you?

Will the third season be a charm for Kathy Griffin? |
November 28th, 2006 under Kathy Griffin, TV Reality. [ Comments: none ]

There’ s no place like the D-List for Kathy Griffin, and Bravo concurs with a third season renewal for the acclaimed Emmy-nominated unscripted series "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List." Six episodes of her no-holds barred, one-hour series are set to return in 2007 on Bravo, it was announced today by Frances Berwick, Executive Vice President, Programming and Production, Bravo. "Kathy’s unique style of comedy is brilliantly showcased with this series, and the new season will continue to show her D-List life in hilarious Technicolor, and her daily struggle to move up the celebrity food chain," said Berwick. Even with a third season renewal of her series, the talented comic Kathy Griffin still revels life on the D-List. But with an Emmy nod for her Bravo series, is she finally getting A-List props? Naaaah! Life still holds its indignities for the talented comic, and in the new season, viewers will relish in fantastic new D-List adventures. Her career is on a roll and the comic is in better form then ever, which only serves up more challenges for the dog-tired Kathy, who must show more fortitude than ever to stay at the top of her game. Returning this season are some of Griffin’s "peeps" including her assistant, Jessica, and her loveably wacky parents, John and Maggie Griffin. Look for a new motley crew of personalities to pop in on Kathy’s hectic life in the new season.
Bravo
I so can’t stand her.

CBS confirms The Amazing Race: All-Stars, but not the All-Stars |
November 21st, 2006 under TV Reality. [ Comments: none ]

CBS is giving "The Amazing Race" the all-star treatment. Net Tuesday confirmed the upcoming 11th edition of the Emmy-winning reality skein, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Bertram van Munster, will feature cast members from previous cycles of the show. Production on "The Amazing Race: All-Stars" began last week in Miami and will premiere in first-quarter 2007. "Race" becomes the third CBS unscripted skein to go all-star. "Survivor" began the trend a few years ago, while "Big Brother" followed suit last summer. A CBS spokesman confirmed the all-star nature of the next "Race" but declined comment on which past cast members will return. However, insiders said Rob and Amber — who appeared on "Race" after appearing on two editions of "Survivor" — will be given another shot at the top prize. Duo have wrapped lensing on their upcoming Fox Reality Channel skein, "Rob and Amber: Against the Odds," which debuts in January. They are expected to square off against Joyce and Uchenna, their two chief opponents in season seven of "Race." Latter team narrowly won that edition. Also lacing up again: David and Mary, the plain-spoken coalminer and his wife from Kentucky. Not expected on the "All-Star" race: Jonathan and Victoria, the feuding couple whose antics landed them on a Dr. Phil primetime special. Chip and Kim, two of the most popular former "Race" cast members, won’t appear either. Most editions of the "Race" are expected to be represented on the all-star edition, save for the much-panned family edition.

What no Chip and Kim or Jonathan and Victoria?
