When I worked at CNN, I spoke with several journalistic legends. However, there was only one reporter who would make me fangirl when she called. That brilliant journalist is Jeannie Moos.
I never met or worked with anyone who has her wit. She is one of a kind, and I was lucky to have worked with her.
As were the people who worked with her before, during, and after me. But sadly, her reign has come to an end.
Moos announced at the end of the week that her time with CNN has come to an after 43 years.
I’m leaving the company tomorrow…calling it a day. Actually I’m calling it around 16,000 days since I’ve been at CNN for over 43 years.
I’m the shy, retiring type so I’m retiring shyly, avoiding all fanfare and lingering goodbyes. Just want to thank everyone who helped me do what I love. Special thanks to the cameramen and women whose backs I strained shooting excessive b-roll, to the editors who put up with my micromanagement during endless edits, to the makeup artists who made me look better than I actually do and especially to the producers who I’ve worked with since I first came to CNN in 1981 when it was 6 months old. Imagine being a producer and doing nothing but Moos stories for YEARS. Those people are saints.
I don’t expect to go back to packaging full-time, though might entertain quirky projects if I get bored and someone has something fun to pitch. But, for God’s sake, please…NO MORE STORY IDEAS! Any more story ideas and I’ll want to retire FROM LIFE.
Jeanne
CNN lost a legend, and she will never be replaced. There will never be another Jeannie Moos. And I don’t know if that is a good thing or not.
So, Miss Moos. I want to thank you for making the news special.
Kellie Meyers was preparing to go live from the White House on NewsNation today. Everything seemed normal until a bird flew behind her and landed on her head.
What did she do? She shook it off and remained pretty calm even though she was in shock.
Thankfully, it happened before she went live, so the viewers were none the wiser.
However, the feeds rooms was recording her liveshot, and that moment was caught on tape. So, she was able to share it with us!
Why did the bird do it? The little bird was trying to whisper in her ear that convicted felon Donald Trump is guilty as hell, and they needed to move on to another candidate. At least, that is what I am assuming.
WLBT in Jackson, Mississippi, was reporting on a serious news story, but a typo made it unintentionally funny.
That is because it should’ve read, “Man shot sitting in car at gas station.” However, the chyron operator added an H to sitting, and now the victim was shitting in his car.
Then again, have you seen the price of gas? He could have been shitting.
Kelly Rowland was supposed to host the fourth hour of Today with Hoda Kotb on Thursday but walked out on the show at the last minute because the dressing was too small for her liking.
So Page Six says the producers ran around 30 Rock to try to find her a bigger dressing room, but they couldn’t find one. And she thought she was too good for the only one they had. So she left the studio and the show in a lurch.
What to do? They asked Rita Ora who was going to be a guest, and she said yes. And as you can tell from different clips from the episode, the singer enjoyed every second. And didn’t mind the last-minute mask.
So Rowland missed out on the fun. Her loss was definitely Today’s gain.
Hopefully, Rowland will realize that she is a C-Lister now. She is like Nick Lachey and Joey Fatone. Without the band, you really are only good for Reality Shows and crappy movies.
