Seriously? OMG! WTF?

How did you and Christian Bale develop his character in American Psycho?
It was definitely a process. We talked a lot, but he was in L.A. and I was in New York. We didn’t actually meet in person a lot, just talked on the phone. We talked about how Martian-like Patrick Bateman was, how he was looking at the world like somebody from another planet, watching what people did and trying to work out the right way to behave. And then one day he called me and he had been watching Tom Cruise on David Letterman, and he just had this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes, and he was really taken with this energy.

OMG! Now that I know that, I am not sure I will ever be able to watch American Psycho the same way. Just re-watching the Hip to be Square scene, Bale reminds me of Cruise in Rain Man. He even sounds like him now that I think about it. Even the hair is the same. OK, I must stop analyzing this because I love American Psycho and this new knowledge is killing me softly like Patrick Bateman did to Paul Allen.

“I believe we can balance the scales if Tom Cruise would lower his quote by a mere $29 million,” Baldwin cracked last night during his laugh-filled hosting debut of Elle magazine’s annual Women in Hollywood dinner and awards show.
“I realize this may be a bit unfair since he’s not here to defend himself and I really don’t want to put this all on one man, but if I had to, that man would be Tom Cruise…I assure you my salary would not make a difference. My annual salary is the budget for Altoids on one of Tom’s movies.”

Katie Holmes laughed at the oh-so-true joke, but I am sure she didn’t get what he was saying. Seriously he is so right Tom’s last few movies have not returned what he cost for them and if more Hollywood actors would take pay cuts maybe more movies would be made? Who needs to make $29 million for a movie especially in this economy?
Alec also brought up a funny point about how skinny Hollywood actresses are today as compared to when he was a leading man 20 years ago, “Women today are so skinny,” he said after Renée Zellweger was honored. “If I did a love scene with them, I would crush them. If I did a love scene with Renée, I would kill her.” Am I the only one who didn’t realize just how hysterical he was?
