November 10th, 2012 under TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

Want to go to a wedding tonight, but don’t want to deal with all the stuff that comes with? Then you are going to want to watch the Wedding Band on TBS at 10p.
Tommy (Brian Austin Green) is the lead singer for the most nontraditional wedding band, but yet they make beautiful music. Tommy is single, and he wants to keep it that way. Eddie (Peter Cambor) is happily married with kids yet the band get him to do things he doesn’t want to do. Barry (Derek Miller) is the guy you expect to be in a band. Session musician Stevie (Harold Perrineau) is the latest addition to the group and he completes them.
These guys know how to live the Wedding Band life and you will live it through them! As funny and enjoyable the show is the music is what makes it. You have to hear their renditions of their songs because they are all better than the original.

When are your favorite TNT shows coming back?
October 2nd, 2012 under TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

TNT announced today when our favorite shows are coming back and we don’t have to wait until the summer to find out what happens next for the Ewings! We have something to be thankful for because Rizzoli & Isles and Leverage will be back on November 27th. Then just as we get over our New Year’s hangovers, Dallas will be back on January 28th. On February 4th, David E Kelly has new show on TV and this time it is a medical drama with Sanjay Gupta starring Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina and Jamie Bamber. The arresting drama SouthLAnd will be back on February 13th. Two weeks after that TNT gets real with Donnie Wahlberg in the unscripted drama Boston’s Finest.
I hope the Mayans were wrong about the world ending because I want to be around to see the new season of Dallas! Seriously didn’t that strike oil with you?

It’s a very happy hour for Sullivan & Son
September 4th, 2012 under TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

Raise a glass and down the shot because TBS has renewed Sullivan & Son for a second season. The sitcom about a NYC lawyer who moves back to Pittsburgh to help his dad run their neighborhood bar will be back in 2013 to the jokes that other comedies are afraid to tell.
The thing I like about it most about the show that stars Steve Byrne is that it is funny without being mean. Plus it is the type of bar you can see yourself going to when you are over the whole trendy bar scene with people you can see hanging out with you. They won’t be like them, but they will look like them!
If you have never seen Sullivan & Son (the show that puts the Very Funny TBS Very Funny) then you can watch it Thursdays at 10p.

How Vince Vaughn got Steve Byrne to come up with Sullivan & Son
August 30th, 2012 under TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

Sullivan & Son is a throw back to the ’80s sitcoms and because of that I love the show that airs Thursdays on TBS at 10p. It is a show about a NYC lawyer who moves back to Pittsburgh to help run his family’s bar with his tough Korean mom and his Irish dad. Besides having his blood family at the bar all the time, there also is interesting group of regulars who are consonantly there. Let’s just say if you grew up in the North East and did the neighborhood bar scene, then you know these types of patrons. So that makes the show very relocatable.
Steve Byrne came up with show because of his friend Vince Vaughn someone he met on the comedy circuit and Vaughn was trying to help break into acting. Only problem is there weren’t that many roles for someone that is Korean and Irish, so Vaughn had an idea, “I sort of encouraged him to come up with a concept that he was passionate about, and I would kind of support him and kind of, you know, instead of waiting for that role to come around, you know, kind of create your own weight with it.” So after several meetings they came up with Sullivan & Son and the rest is Hollywood history.
One of my favorite parts of the show is Steve’s mom and I wondered how close she is to his own. He told me on a conference call recently about how much his TV parents are like his real ones, “Yes, I mean, there’s going to be some people that say oh, it’s a stereotypical Asian mother, you know, who speaks in an accent. Well my mother came over from Korea and she does have an accent. And she grew up very poor. So she’s almost got the mentality of some of our great grandparents who came up during the Great Depression, where they really value, you know, pocket change.
“So my mom did really have that mentality, and my father is really an outgoing, just Irish – he’s got like an Irish bartender’s ear. He’s just a really outgoing, loves story telling, loves having a good laugh, so they really are like my parents. But as the show goes on and the scenarios get a little crazier they become caricatures of my parents.” The scenarios have gotten crazier as the show has gone on and that is what makes it so funny. So when you tune into tonight, you can see how his parents have become something they are not real life, but still have a little dose of reality to them.
