Billy Piper disgusted by too skinny actresses |

CURVY telly babe Billie Piper has launched an astonishing attack on Victoria Beckham for being too skinny. The former Doctor Who star claims stick-thin Posh is a lousy role model for star-struck young girls. Billie – who has battled anorexia – said she was "disgusted" at the example set by Posh and other Size Zero celebs. And she said curvy stars such as singer Shakira, 29, and Kelly Brook are much better role models. "Sniper" Billie, who has battled anorexia, rapped: "I think the whole Size Zero debate is disgusting. "Some models you see are tiny because that’s the way they were born. But then they’ll get the attention and that will start feeding a fire. "My sister, who is 13, looks amazing but is already worried about her figure. She loves Posh and I say: ‘Come on Ellie, she’s tiny. What’s wrong with Shakira? She’s sexy, curvy.’ But she has no interest." Billie’s own eating disorder was sparked when she was cruelly branded "fat" at the 1999 Brit Awards – and she is still terrified it could return. The last time she dramatically lost weight was after her split from husband Chris Evans, 40, in 2004. She told Glamour magazine: "It’s a constant worry to me – but it’s not a continual struggle any more. If it’s getting out of hand I get help but I’ve been all right for a couple of years now. "For me, the danger is when my life gets out of control. When I broke up with Chris I had it for a moment but I was able to nip it in the bud." Actress Kate Winslet, 31, also waded into the row yesterday by describing the skinny trend as "disturbing". She told BBC1’s Sunday AM: "There is an image of perfection that is getting thinner and thinner and it’s truly upsetting to me."

As someone who was anorexic her comments mean so much more.

Kate Winslett slams ultra-thin models and actresses! |

Hollywood star Kate Winslet finds the glamorization of ultra-thin "size zero" models and actresses "unbelievably disturbing" and says she keeps magazines featuring such women away from her 6-year-old daughter. "It’s so disturbing because young girls are impressionable from 11 up to 19 or 20 even. Women are very impressionable at those ages," Winslet told British Broadcasting Corp. television’s "Sunday AM" program. "They’re trying to figure out who they are, and they want to be loved, and what I resent is that there is an image of perfection that is getting thinner and thinner, and it’s truly upsetting to me." Stick-thin celebrities like Kate Moss, Nicole Richie and Victoria Beckham have been criticized as poor role models for young women and accused of contributing to the rise in eating disorders. A major fashion event in Madrid, Spain, banned ultra-thin models from the catwalk earlier this year, and other shows have indicated they plan to do the same. The 31-year-old Winslet, who burst on the movie scene in "Titanic" and stars in the current romantic comedy "The Holiday," said it was "unbelievably disturbing what’s going on at the moment" with the popularity of the ultra-thin. The British actress said she refuses to allow any magazines featuring rake-thin models into her house for fear her daughter, Mia, will see them. "It’s only a matter of time before she becomes aware of it, and it frightens the life out of me," said Winslet, who is married to director Sam Mendes. Winslet said she hoped her success will be an inspiration to others. "I hope that in some small way I’m able to say, ‘I’m a normal person, I’m doing all right.’ I’ve got a lovely husband and children and I didn’t lose weight to find those things, and those things are what should be important."

Good for her! She is so right, now if only some of the ultra-thin models and actresses would listen to what she said!

Twiggy blasts too thin Hollywood actresses |

Now even Twiggy is hitting out at the ’size zero’ craze. Her name was once a byword for super-skinny models. Yet Twiggy says she is ‘terrified’ by the new so-called ’size zero’ trend – and she puts the blame on Hollywood actresses. The Sixties icon, who picked up her nickname for her waif-like figure, says actresses, not models, are responsible for the growing trend of extreme diets. Hollywood stars such as Lindsay Lohan and Mischa Barton have attracted attention for their near-skeletal appearance, and anorexia campaigners fear teenage girls will harm themselves trying to copy their look. Twiggy, whose real name is Lesley Hornby, said: "They go on about banning size zero, but I think Hollywood stars are the worst perpetrators. Most models are naturally long and gangly, while a lot of these young girls in Hollywood have gone on extreme diets. "Their concave chests and bony arms are terrifying. It’s scary to think that normal teenagers are tempted to copy them. I’d love there to be more larger models, but it’s just not going to happen. Designers love to design for slim girls." Her comments come after the deaths of two young women led to calls for size zero models to be outlawed. Last week, 21-year-old Brazilian catwalk star Ana Carolina Reston died of anorexia after eating a diet of apples and tomatoes. She was 5ft 8in but weighed just 6st. In August, Uruguayan model Luisel Ramos suffered heart failure after reportedly consuming only lettuce and diet drinks. Her death led to the Spanish government barring models with a body mass index of 18 or under – officially classified as underweight – from Madrid Fashion Week. Ironically, Twiggy was one of the first models blamed for eating disorders in young women when she burst on to the fashion scene aged 16 in the Sixties. "I was very skinny, but that was just my natural build,’ she said. "I always ate sensibly – being thin was in my genes."

While I agree with her about Hollywood, I think models are also to blame.

Jordan took a swipe at "stick-thin models" today as she launched her new range of underwear for larger bra sizes. The range, launched under her real name, Katie Price, will be sold at Asda from today from sizes 32 to 38 and cup size D to F. The former I’m A Celebrity contestant, who refused to answer questions about the latest series of the show starting this evening, appeared with friends and family to launch the range in west London today. Sporting matching silky black underwear she posed alongside the 10 other women. She said: "My collection is really something I’ve wanted to do for ages. "There are lots of people who promote their underwear with stick thin models but I wanted to use my family and friends so that’s what I did. Asked what she liked about the new range, she said: "The bits that I like are the little bows, the little frills and the short knickers. Everything about the underwear is what I wear." Asked what her husband, Peter Andre, thought about it she said: "He says it is me, very girlie, very cutesy." She added: "Because I am a girlie girl, doing my underwear is a good way girls can feel and look like me." She said she was planning to go to Sheffield tomorrow as part of the launch. The Katie Price Lingerie Range is available at George at Asda with prices starting from £5.
Good for her!!! As a woman that can wear her bra it is nice to see someone considers us when making a sexy bra!!! You go girl!!!

Mischa Barton thinks women curves should be promoted and not stifled! |

Super trim Mischa Barton has revealed that skinny isn’t good. The former OC star is calling on Hollywood to celebrate "womanly curves" instead. She’s worried that pictures of stick-thin celebs in magazines are promoting eating disorders among young girls and wants such publications to stop their obsession with weight. "It’s so wrong to try and stifle womanly curves, it shouldn’t be promoted." "This unhealthy look should be abandoned," she said. Mischa, herself a quasi pipe cleaner, once said she’d be frightened of having the curves of her former The OC co-star, Rachel Bilson. "I feel tall and lanky next to her, but I’d be scared of having her boobs and voluptuousness!" she told Bliss magazine in December 2005. "I would never have a boob job. I like being understatedly sexy. Rachel’s curves make her more overtly sexual than I am," she went on. It seems she’s now a fan of such curves. Hooray.
Sky Showbiz
Good for her since The OC is one of the worst offenders on too skinny actresses.
