Tonight after 10 years Smallville flies off our TV screens forever. Executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders told us that tonight’s two hour finale starting at 8p on The CW will be satisfying to all the fans who have been watching since the show was on the now-defunct The WB.
At a Q&A session on Tuesday the two executive producers were asked if we can expect as endings to several characters we have also watched on the show since the beginning and they promised that we will, but tonight’s episode is about Tom Welling’s Clark Kent. What that means we will have to tune in to find out, but I am glad this is his episode. In fact they told us, the reason why the last few episodes were little more Oliver Queen heavy is because they wanted his story to be told before the finale was dedicated to Superman.
So what about the original cast members, who will be back and what we will learn of their tales coming to an end? Kristin Kreuk was never a possibility for the season, so Lana’s death was the end of her. Jonathan Kent will be back from the gave again, and as Kelly told us, “Every time I see certain moments with Jonathan I still get a tear in my eye, even after all these weeks of watching the footage.” They also shared his reappearance will have a very important meaning.
Now while John Schneider is back, Michael Rosenbaum almost wasn’t. In fact Brian said his ability to be on show came after it was too late, but they rewrote some things to make Lex Luthor’s return something special. Although it might’ve been more so because as Brian added, “There were a couple of things we had planned on planting in the season that we didn’t because we didn’t know that we were going to have him.” Well luckily they got him for one last Lex moment.
Now what about Clark’s best friend Chloe? Brian said, “I think there are a lot of different ways people want Chloe to end and so we, I think, serviced her character in a way that is right for who she was and who she’s becoming. She has one big moment with Clark where we get to see her shine.” Kelly added that there is a little jewel for Allison Mack’s character that comes towards the end of the episode. That little tidbit has me curious about what it is.
But what really has me intrigued is how they described tonight’s episode in general, “We didn’t just want to do an ending, we wanted to do a beginning.”
Now I can sit here and spoil things about tonight’s final episode of Smallville, but why not enjoy one last episode of a show that we have loved for the last 10 years.
Oh here is something to enjoy even when the show is over. The complete series DVD collection will be the largest release in The CW’s history, it will include so many “special” features that they couldn’t even tell is what some of them were. Now that is all kinds of awesomeness.
Thank you to the cast and crew of Smallville for ten years of great television!!!

Paul Wesley is a married man! According to Life & Style he recently married Torre DeVitto in a secret ceremony in NYC. No other details are known at this time.
The Vampire Diaries actor has been dating Nanny Carrie from One Tree Hill since 2007.
BTW what is up with all of these The CW stars marrying each other. First One Tree Hill’s Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray got married and now she is dating her co-star Austin Nichols and he is a dating an extra from the show, then the boys on Supernatural married actresses from the network, now Paul, at some point all those Gossip Girls stars who have been dating each other will tie the knot and Hilarie Burton had a baby with Jeffrey Dean Morgan who was on Supernatural. You know pretty much all of them have a tie to One Tree Hill, so what is in the water over there in North Carolina???
The CW has picked up Supernatural for a lucky seventh season today. And the show that gets better every season was not the only one given the good news because they also picked up Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl and 90210. Plus they announced that not only is America’s Next Top Model also coming back, so are several models from the past because they are doing an All-Star edition of the show in the fall. Who will be walking the runway again is still unknown, but you know it will be the best cycle yet!
Now this news would’ve been perfect if Hellcats was also renewed today, I am so rooting for the show to come back!!!
Hellcats comes alive on The CW tonight at 9p in a way only it can…Zombie style. No the Lancer Hellcats weren’t really killed during their break and are returning as the undead, but they’re helping Dan out on his film school application. Besides giving acting a try the Hellcats are also dealing with some personal issues. Now that Marti knows her father was a musician, she wants to know more about him and she will get some help from her real life sister. That’s right AJ Michalka joins the show for the rest of the season. Now back to Marti, what she wasn’t expecting is that Wanda will finally tell her the truth about her dad and what she tells her will shock us all…how will it change Marti? She isn’t the only one who will be caught in a web of lies because Alice is going to expose a cheating scandal at the school and one of her co-cheerleaders is involved in it. Will she back down or will she let her teammate go down? Tune in for Hellcats tonight at 9p for a show that purrfectly heavenly.
Oh and did I mention next week is a Bob Fosse inspired episode and coming up in the show someone will become hot for the hot teacher???
The Vampire Diaries is back on The CW at 8p and so is Klaus. Not only is the show that brought back the initials VD back, but they also go back to the ’60s for a school dance and not everyone will survive it. You will have to tune into the show to find out who dies because there is so much that happens during tonight’s groovy episode that I can’t tell you anything else about it without spoiling it…and believe me you would put a stake through my heart if I spoiled you about anything that happens! Just like Damon I like being immortal!!!
