Does Drop Dead Fred really need to be remade?
April 28th, 2009 under Stupid Sequels/Remakes. [ Comments: 2 ]

Out of all the movies to remake, Drop Dead Fred should be on the bottom of the list. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, it is on the top of Universal’s list to be done. But wait the news gets worse, not only in this bad economy are they wasting money on doing this, but they hired Russell Brand to play Fred.
Here is what the new movie will be about according to THR, “The take for the new “Fred” is to make a film in the tone of “Beetlejuice,” building a universe around the concept of imaginary friends. Brand would play the trouble-making pal.” Um, sounds like a new movie so why say it is a remake of Drop Dead Fred? Just saying.
The new movie is tentatively called Fred, I personally call it Sh!t!!!

This is the new Freddy Krueger

Michael Bay and his unoriginal production company have found their new Freddy Krueger for their destruction of Nightmare on Elm Street. The Hollywood Reporter says that they have cast Jackie Earle Haley in the role. I don’t know who he is, so I can’t really give much of an opinion on the casting except if Robert Englund is playing the part I am not going to like whoever is replacing him.

How can they make The Three Stooges movie worse?
March 29th, 2009 under Stupid Sequels/Remakes. [ Comments: 3 ]

So earlier in the week, it was announced that The Farrely Brothers’ Three Stooges movie was moving forward with Sean Penn as Larry, Jim Carrey as Curly and Benicio Del Toro as Moe. It has taken me this long to actually comment on what a horrible decision all those castings are. While the three are good actors, they are so not right for this role. All the Stooges are turning over in their graves over this. Seriously what is MGM thinking? First they gave Tom Cruise a studio, and now they are making this movie…are they trying to go under? I lied, I still can’t talk about it. What do you think of the movie?
I will find solace in the meantime by watching the original The Three Stooges on Crackle.com, so if you need the fix like I do check them out there!

Another ’80s TV show being turned into a movie
March 16th, 2009 under Stupid Sequels/Remakes. [ Comments: 1 ]

Hollywood continues it trend of unoriginality because New Line is turning MacGuyver into a feature film according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“We think we’re a stick of chewing gum, a paper clip and an A-list writer away from a global franchise,” said New Line’s Richard Brener, who will oversee with Sam Brown and Walter Hamada.

At this time no one is attached to write the screenplay and hopefully it will stay that way. There is also no word if Richard Dean Anderson will reprise his role or if Patty and Selma Bouvier will be in it.

Heathers being destroyed as a Broadway Musical
March 12th, 2009 under Broadway, Stupid Sequels/Remakes. [ Comments: none ]

Broadway continues its unoriginality run with the ’80s cult classic movie Heathers. The movie is being turned into a musical according to Reuters. The director of Race to Witch Mountain is trying to the bring the show to stage next year and I hope he isn’t successful. While in ways I think it could work if it is way out there and the music is bizarre enough, but I just can’t picture how some of those scenes that made the movie what it was translating to the stage with the same effect that the movie had. Veronica and JD need to put a stop to this in their own special way!
When will Broadway stop turning ’80s movies into Musicals, when was the last one that did well?
