If you build it, they will come…and they did
August 13th, 2021 under Sports figures. [ Comments: none ]

Back in 1989, someone said, “If you build it, they will come.” Well, 32 years later, the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox came to play a game in Iowa at the Field of Dreams.

To make this game even more epic, Major League Baseball invited Kevin Costner to come out of the cornfield onto the baseball one. Following behind him were the two teams in old school uniforms.

It doesn’t matter who won because we all did. This is what baseball is all about. Not money, not fame, it is about America’s Favorite Pasttime where dreams come true on the field.

I hope that MLB considers adding a team to Iowa because I would love to see them play there. Let’s bring the game back to simpler times. I miss those times. And the days when my NY teams won games.

BTWF: Kathy Griffin for the Chicago White Sox

Before Kathy Griffin made herself known with her loud voice, she did it via a kazoo for the Chicago White Sox. You can totally recognize the 18-year-old in that 1978 commercial.

How many Yankees’ ball boys does it take to catch a cat?
August 3rd, 2021 under Animals, Sports figures. [ Comments: none ]

MLB

Yesterday, the NY Yankees played the Baltimore Orioles, and it was far from a perfect game for them. But then, in the 8th inning, things got purrfect when a kitty found its way onto the field.

The cute little cat got its way around the bases and the outfield because no one seemed to want to stop it. Can you blame anyone on the Orioles for standing down? I mean, they are a bird, and felines are their natural enemies.

Anyways, back to the cat. Eventually, the Bronx Bombers sent out some ball boys to play dog catcher, and they bombed.

It basically went from a baseball game to a Benny Hill skit. So much so, I could hear the music playing every time the pussy escaped those pussies.

Eventually, the cat made its way off of the field, but not before it made its way into our hearts.

When it comes to why it had such a successful run? That is just how us cool Bronx cats roll!

XOXO Danny!

Kaito Streets is OK after groin stab during his Olympic fencing match
July 28th, 2021 under Sports figures. [ Comments: none ]

On Saturday, Kaito Streets was playing in his second fencing match at the 2020 Olympics. It is a dream come true for any athlete who trains for this chance. But his dream became a nightmare. His opponent Eli Dershwitz accidentally hit him on the medals.

And with that, he was down. But he is not out. He made TikTok rewatching the moment and let us know he is OK. Embarrassed, but OK.

In fact, he is doing so much better he was able to compete today.

I am sure he hates that this happened to him on the international stage. However, at least now, we will remember and talk about him for years to come. I say it is better to be remembered than to win.

The Cleveland Indians have a new name
July 23rd, 2021 under Sports figures. [ Comments: none ]

After years of people asking the Cleveland Indians to change their name, they finally announced that starting next season, they will be known as something else. Get ready for the Cleveland Guardians.

The name comes from the sculptures at the end of the city’s Hope Bridge that are known as the Guardians of Traffic.

The baseball team announced last year that they would be changing their name. They asked 4,000 fans to help pick a new one and then surveyed 40,000 to pick the best one. They wanted a name that would be loyal to the team’s history and also unite the community.

Do you think Cleveland Guardians hits a home run, or did they stuck out?
