Showtime has been keeping a secret that no one saw coming and today they revealed that they are bringing back Twin Peaks for 9 episodes in 2016. Why then? It will be 25 years since the show that captivated America ended its first run on TV back in 1991. What has happened in the past quarter of a century? We will just have to tune in to find out in about a year and a half.
If you are like me and have had heard about this show and yet you’ve never seen it, then you will be happy to know that Showtime will air the first two seasons before their limited series airs.
To fans of the show, you will be happy to know that David Lynch and Mark Frost will be back to write and produce all nine episodes. Now when it comes to which actors will be back, you will just have to stay tuned. But I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of familiar faces back in Twin Peaks.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQYkGeeSfJ4 Homeland is back on Showtime tonight at 9p with two new episodes and it is much different show than you remember. They say if you have given up on it, now is the time to come back. If you have never seen it, then now is the time to start watching.
Tonight’s episode picks up about a year after the season finale and Carrie is stationed in Kabul. The child she had with Brody is back in The States living with her sister as Carrie tries different ways to avoid her daughter, Frannie. When Carrie is given some good information that leads to bad situation, everything she has worked for has been compromised. Will she be able to get back on track or will her life as she knows it be over?
This is just one of the many questions you will ask yourself about season four. Recently at the Showtime TCA Summer Press Day, Executive Producers, Alex Gansa, Alexander Cary and Meredith Stiehm talked about this season and here are five answers you will want to know before you watch.
1 – Will Brody be back?
Gansa: “I can say unequivocally that Dana Brody will not be back for Season 4.”
2 – What happened to Saul?
Gansa: “I don’t think I’m giving too much away to say that Saul is no longer in the CIA as per the end of last season. But another interesting ramification of a military draw down in Afghanistan, for example, is that private contractors become that much more important. It’s a market opportunity for people that work in private contracting, private military business. And that’s who Saul has gone to work for. So largely that’s how his character gets introduced back into that world.”
3 – The baby?
Gansa: “I think that Carrie is very stable in terms of her illness, but I think she’s got a period of grieving to do and coming to terms with what happened at the end of last season. And clearly, that’s represented in, you know, identified by the child that she had. So the baby exists as a marker for her emotionally. But the place that she’s in now is a place where you cannot have dependents, so she was forced to leave the child at home.”
4 – What to expect?
Stiehm: “She’s (Carrie) in a completely different role now that she’s overseas. And there’s a very big storyline with somebody she’s recruiting and trying to get close to and trying to get his trust.
5 – Where is this season filmed?
Gansa: And though Cape Town might not seem like an ideal place to shoot for Islamabad, it’s actually amazing. A lot of Bollywood films have started shooting in Cape Town, and there’s a big expatriate community of Pakistanis and Indians there which provides us extras and great character actors,
Our favorite monsters that were born at the end of the 19th Century are reborn again tonight at 10p on Showtime in Penny Dreadful and you don’t want to miss them coming back to life.
Penny Dreadful, is an English tabloid magazine in the late 19th that talks about all the things that go bump in the night.
Sir Malcolm Murray (Timothy Dalton) is looking for his daughter, Mina, who has been kidnapped by Vampires. While looking for her, he will meet many other creatures who are just as scary. Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) helps him with his search and she is a woman way ahead of her times. Ethan Chandle (Josh Hartnett) is an American, who is an expert marksmen, and he catches Ives’ eyes so she recruits him. Now they will seek what no one else wants to find and protect people from horrors that make Jack the Ripper seem wimpy.
Tonight we will meet Dr Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway) and his creature. In upcoming episodes we will also meet Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney) and he is sexier than the way we pictured him in that eternal painting.
Penny Dreadful is a dark tale that will scare you the same way you were scared as a kid the first time you saw something with Vampires and Frankenstein in it. We all need to be reminded of that fear every now and again and Penny Dreadful is the perfect reminder.
Seven is a lucky number. Hank Moody (David Duchovny) gets lucky a lot. So it makes sense that Califronication would go out during its 7h season.
Tonight at 9:30p on Showtime, the curtain goes up for Hank Moody one last time and I am sad to see this show go.
Hank is committed to Karen (Natascha McElhone), and he will do anything to win her back. He is even willing to take a job on a TV show as a writer. Will that be enough to tame him?
Besides dealing with his new job, he has a new person in his life. He has a son. That’s right, all the Californication he has been doing has given him a son. Levon (Oliver Cooper), is actually from a relationship he had just before he started dating Karen. Now that Levon’s mother (Heather Graham) is back in his life, how will that effect his relationship with Karen?
When it comes to Levon, he is momma’s boy who is nothing like his dad. In upcoming episodes, Hank’s influence on him will change this nerdy boy into a confident man. Especially when Hank hires a prostitute for him so he can lose his virginity. Only Californication can make something so wrong seem so right. Which is something Marcy (Pamela Adlon) and him admit they longer can tell the difference about.
Now back to Marcy, Charlie (Evan Handler) and her are trying to make their second marriage to each other work. But with him out of her work and her barely working, how will they survive without money? An indecent proposal, might save the day.
By the end of this season, there will be a lot of sex, a lot wackiness, a lot of cursing, a lot laughs, a few tears, and an answer to whether or not Hank and Karen will live happily ever after.
I am sad to see this show go because it is the only show I know that makes being so wrong, seem so right. I will never forget moments like she’s a squirter or an orgy on a plane that is looks like it is going to crash and so much more. What is your favorite moment from Californication? How do you think it will end?
Next Thursday at 10p on Showtime’s Gigolos, Brace dresses up as a Centaur for one of his clients. When the oldest member of the group asks her if she likes it, she tells him no. She wanted something from the Renaissance era and he dressed up as someone from Greek Mythology. So I guess you can say that was attempt was a big old neigh!
You know if this Gigolo thing doesn’t work out for him, maybe Craig Ferguson can hire him to be half of Secretariat. I know which half he would be perfect for!
