The Big C is back on Showtime tonight at 10:30p and you are not going to want to miss the best new dramedy of the year.
Cathy (played brilliantly by Laura Linney) has skin cancer, the bad kind, and she hasn’t told anyone about it including her estranged husband and teenage son. Knowing that she is knocking on heaven’s door, she is finding herself free to say and do whatever she wants to. Finally she shares the news with her old grumpy neighbor Marleen and the two forge a strange relationship. That is until Maureen, who suffers from Alzheimer’s kills herself. Even though she is dead, she will be back on the show for the second season.
One person Cathy has kept her secret is her homeless brother, who slept with her best friend and she is now pregnant with their love child. How long will she be able to keep her secret from them now that they are living across the street from her in her dead neighbor’s house?
Two people she is no longer keeping her news from is her husband and son and she is finally trying experimental treatment to beat the cancer. That is how the first season ends and where the second one picks up. How is the treatment affecting her and her family? There will be a lot of changes in store for all of them.
The Big C is a drama, but there are also plenty of laughs in between the tears. Unlike many shows this show is actually better than it was its first second. There is so much I want to share about the second season, but I want you to experience it as it happens as I did.
BTW if Laura Linney doesn’t get the Emmy nomination and the win for this role than the people who are voting are bigger idiots than I already think they are. She is so freaking perfect in this role, she deserves as many awards as possible for her performance on the show. And the show also deserves several awards because it is so real and yet enjoyable.
Seriously whether you have watched The Big C before or this will be your first time, you need to make sure it is a weekly commitment every Monday night at 10:30p on Showtime.
Showtime has brought us some of the sexiest shows ever based in the middle ages like The Tudors and The Borgais and now they are bringing us The Dark Ages. After watching the trailer that debuted on Funny or Die for their latest erotic series coming to Show(me)time, I desperately need a shower! When Robert Englund says, “take me”, it was just too much for me to handle. I can’t wait to watch this show with my remote control. If you know what I mean by remote control…
Seriously doesn’t it look like this will be their hottest soft core historical drama to date? Let’s just say The Dark Ages definitely lit my fire!!!
Showtime has decided to cancel United States of Tara and renew Nurse Jackie according to Variety. I am surprised that they would cancel a show that actually got them an Emmy, but then again I haven’t been able to watch that show since the pilot. When I got the screeners for the third season of both shows, I actually stopped watching mid-way through the episodes because I couldn’t stand either show. I give every screener a chance, but these shows were such sh!t I couldn’t put myself through it.
Both shows reach a certain audience and I am not that audience. Well doesn’t look like Tara was that many people’s either. I think it had a good concept, but it went in such a weird direction it became unwatchable. On that note, can someone explain the appeal of Nurse Jackie to me? I just don’t get why so many people think this show is the sh!t, when the only scene that caught my attention was when a dead rat fell down from the ceiling at the hospital and landed on one of the nurse’s lunch. I think that says it all for anyone who has never seen the show.
Tonight at 10:30p the fourth and final season of Secret Diary of a Call Girl begins on Showtime and I think it is the most erotic one yet. The season starts off with Hannah is starting a new life in her very own home, bit it won’t only be her’s for long.
In the first episode of the season Belle is hired by lawyer, who can’t finish and it’s her job to help to get there. She will try, try, try and try again and eventually will find the solution in one of her most sensual sex scenes to date. She rewards him and he will give her some information that will change her life. Stephanie was arrested and she wants Belle to replace her as the Madame. At first she fights it, but eventually gives in. That is not all Stephanie wants, she also wants Belle to take her in daughter, who doesn’t know what her mom really does for a living. How long will that last? Will Belle be able to survive as a Madame and a Call Girl? Will Hannah and Ben’s relationship work? And you will never believe who knows her secret? And most importantly what type of interesting clients will she have sex with this final season of this darling show that makes me wonder if I went into the wrong profession…
And after this show ends, Showtimes goes from the scripted story of a Call Girl to the real life of Call Guys. Gigolos follows 5 men who are hired to pleasure women for money and we find out what their lives are like and how they got into the business. Ever wonder what happens if he is not interested in the women that hire them, well we find out what they do. In one of the future episodes 4 (yes four) of them are hired by one woman who has a plan for all of them at once…and these guys are basically doing it for free. Find out why and what she has planned for them. And basically find out what life is like for a Gigolo in Sin City every Thursday night at 11p! And make sure the kids are asleep because this is not for them, it is for the grown ups because there is at least one sex scene in every show.
If you are like me and you are still missing The Tudors, well The Borgias will fill that void starting tonight on Showtime at 9p. The Borgias Family is being described as the “original crime family” and in tonight’s two hour premiere episode you will start to understand how they got that title. And talking about titles, the show starts off with Rodrigo (played by Jeremy Irons) a Spaniard and the head of the family, being elected as Pope in the 15th century during the Renaissance. So just saying when it takes place, you can only imagine how beautiful the costumes and the scenery is for this series. But it isn’t only about Pope Alexander VI, it is also about his family. His Courtesan, the mother of his four children, who is jealous when he takes a new younger mistress. His older son Giovanni, who has a way with the ladies especially his sister.
There are plenty of people that are trying to stop the Pope, but there are many more who will stop them is this beautifully well done period piece that airs every Sunday on Showtime. Just like how The Tudors taught us about their legacy, The Borgias will do the same.
