The most depressing show on television got some sad news yesterday. Shonda Rhimes Tweeted that Private Practice will end after this season’s 13th episode.
I’m sad to say that Private Practice’s run will end after episode 613 this season. There was a lot of discussion and debate but, in the end, the guys at the network and the studio and I all decided that Private Practice was reaching its finish line. Creatively, we are all extremely proud of the show and especially proud of this season — which you will all soon discover is a creative renaissance. I can’t wait for you to see it.
It’s heartbreaking to end. Truly. I feel so lucky to write for these characters and tell these stories and I truly feel this show has taught me so much as a writer. And there’s a family here, of crew and cast, people who have bonded over these past five and a half seasons. It’s rare for a show to go for more than 100 episodes and we are incredibly proud to have been such a show. And we’re grateful to all of you for spending time with us for an hour every week for the last 6 years. It’s meant the world.
Thank you.
I am so happy to see this show because I never have a watched show that was depressing as this one. Just like a horrific car crash with dismembered bodies all over the place, I just can’t look away. Now that is show is ending, I think I will be able to smile more.
I still cannot get over how last season they had a drug addict lose her lover to an overdose only to find out she was pregnant with a baby without a brain. She then carried it to term, so the baby could be an organ donor. That storyline went on for almost the whole season and that was just one of the many heartbreaking stories the show did over its sad run and there were like 2 a week.
So I say good riddance and I hope this show is replaced with one that is a little happier than this unnecessary cryfest. You know like a show about funeral homes or hospices.
Earlier this week Patrick Dempsey Tweeted a picture of Ellen Degeneres with a neck brace and an eye patch and asked his followers “What happened” Well today it was revealed what happened to the daytime talk show host and she is OK. She staged the picture for him to Tweet in order to promote the 10th season premiere of her show on Monday. Were you were worried about her, or did you know it was a bit for Ellen?
Amy Brenneman Tweeted the above picture of Taye Diggs and her together, and I wonder if they have something to tell us? While I know both actors are happily married in their real lives, their Private Practice characters are not. I actually would enjoy if the two of them hooked up on the ABC show, wouldn’t you?
BTW the picture is just two actors reconnecting on their first few days of shooting.
Eric Dane is joining his TV girlfriend Chyler Leigh and leaving Grey’s Anatomy. He told TVLine, “I am extremely grateful to everyone at Grey’s, ABC and Shondaland for the experience and memories I have had over the course of this run…It has been wonderful to work alongside and learn from a creative force such as Shonda Rhimes.†And it was wonderful to watch him come out of the shower again and again.
When it comes to his decision, it makes total sense because he was barely used last season. What doesn’t make sense is why he wasn’t utilized more because he was one of the best characters on the show. I will miss him on the ABC drama, but I know he will wind up somewhere better and where they appreciate him.
Hopefully we will get one more steamy shower scene before he checks forever.
Kate Walsh is going to be on Bethenny‘s new show tomorrow and she confirms that she is leaving Private Practice this season.
Bethenny: Are you leaving the show?
Kate: This is my last season for “Private Practiceâ€
Bethenny: Oh. My goodness.
Kate: It’s been an incredible journey an amazing ride. I’m hugely, hugely grateful
Bethenny: Do you feel like a family with everyone?
Kate: Yeah, it’s been a long time being Addison. I feel incredibly grateful to Shonda Rhimes and all the fans that have been there from day one to now. I’m really excited about the last season.
Bethenny: I left a chapter and moved into a new chapter now and I know that you get excited about the new journey but you get emotional. You get sentimental…
Kate: yeah, it’s bitter sweet. It’s a huge chapter of my life. It was eight years…
Even though ABC and Shonda Rimes say that this is not Private Practice’s last season, I think without Walsh and Tim Daly there is no reason to continue on with this depressing show. I mean do you see any reason why we should watch it without Addison and Pete?
