Tonight at 9p Sharknado is storming down on Syfy and you don’t want to miss this brilliant movie.
A massive amount of Super Tornadoes are twisting their way over the Pacific Ocean and they are causing the sharks to rise up to the surface. But the twisters don’t stop there because they are actually picking them up and dropping them down on Los Angeles. Obviously the sharks are not happy about being displaced, so they are eating everyone in their path and it is up to Tara Reid and Ian Ziering to stop them before they cause more ugliness in Hollywood than a Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon. Will they do it? You will have to tune to find out in this movie that is more comedy than horror!
But before you do, here are some insights I got from Tara Reid during a conference about the making of the movie that’s directed by Anthony Ferrante.
Were there actual sharks raining down on the actors during the filming of the movie?:
Tara Reid: Yes, special effects, it was a lot more CGI; there weren’t thousands sharks in the sky. The shark stuff, like, in the ocean, I didn’t really have any scenes in, so I wasn’t involved in that kind of area. But, I mean, it was just mostly CGI and you just had to have like a really good imagination.
On faking that there were sharks all around her:
TR: Yes, I was going to say that there was so much green screen. You just had to just use your imagination and pretend that there were sharks everywhere. You know what I mean and sometimes it felt ridiculous because you didn’t know what was going on. But yes, I think we did the best job we can and I think we had a lot of fun doing it.
On committing to the role:
TR: So I think by committing to it, is what makes it so funny. Like, we did go there. Yes, you knew it was absolutely ridiculous. There’s no one going in the shark’s stomach and cut them out with a chainsaw. But because he does play it seriously, it comes off funnier. So, I mean, I think it’s a story that people are really going to enjoy and laugh with it.
Did she learn anything about sharks while making Sharknado?:
TR: It wasn’t really that kind of thing. It wasn’t like we were with actually sharks. I mean, it was all Sci-Fi, so I didn’t really learn anything about sharks. It wasn’t like, “Be careful with this shark because you’re going to get bitten,†because it was all complete sci-fi and digital. So, no, I didn’t learn anything about sharks. I just knew that, you know, run from sharks if you see them. You don’t want to get eaten.
Did she have a crush on Ian Ziering (who plays her ex-husband in the movie) when she younger?:
TR: Not really. I just thought he was a nice guy, but no, not really.
Her honesty to these stupid questions was just perfect. I won’t tell you which one I asked because looking back at it now, I should be embarrassed for asking it. And I am!
Tonight at 9p Warehouse 13 has another heart-pounding season finale on Syfy and you don’t want to miss it.
Warehouse 13’s caretaker, Mrs Frederic (CCH Pounder), is growing weaker as Warehouse 9’s former-caretaker, Paracelsus (Anthony Head), grows stronger. Now it is up to the team to stop him before he gains complete control, but will they be able to do it? Especially now that Myka (Joanne Kelly) is battling her ovarian cancer. She wants to continue on as normal, but Pete (Eddie McClintock) just wants her to get the medical help she needs. Paracelsus might have a cure for Myka, but is her life worth more than the Warehouse? Then Artie (Saul Rubinek) reveals a secret to Claudia (Allison Scagliotti) that he has known about her for a while that will change their relationship forever. So much more happens, but I have already told you too much and I can’t tell you any more for now.
What I can tell you is that I recently was on a conference call with Joanne Kelly and Eddie McClintock and I asked them how they prepared for Myka’s cancer storyline. Joanne said, “You know, you can’t say how you prepare for anything. I think one of the things about a storyline like that is that we’ve all known somebody in our life has been affected by that disease. You ask yourself a lot of the questions that you would ask yourself if something like that happened to you and you go from there.” Then Eddie responded with an answer that will make you adore him even more than you do now, “Yes, I mean for me, it’s not hard. I just try and imagine what it would be like if Joanne came to me and told me that she had cancer, so, you know, she’s my bud and it would bum me out, so it’s pretty natural. It came pretty easily to me.” Tonight’s episode you will see them go even further with the storyline, so I suggest that you have the tissues ready because there will be tears…in between gasps of shock from the other storylines.
Next Thursday at 9p, Syfy is airing a movie called Sharknado and what more besides the title of it do I have to tell you to make you watch it. Let’s see it about some super tornadoes that suck up a lot of sharks from the Pacific Ocean and drops them down on LA where they cause a lot of havoc and death. Not good enough, how about it stars Tara Reid and Ian Ziering? If that doesn’t have you, then I have a feeling you will be regretting missing out on this instant classic on Friday the 12th when everyone tell you how awesome it is.
Seriously Sharnknado + sharks + tornadoes + Los Angeles + Tara Reid + Ian Ziering + cheesiness = Mega awesomeness!
I honestly don’t know what I would do without Syfy creating these great movies to entertain me almost every week?
UPDATE: Here is a clip from Sharknado that makes me so happy I live in inland and not in Santa Monica!
Tonight at 9p Independence Daysaster crashes down on Earth via Syfy and you want to catch this disaster flick.
It is July 4th and President Sam Garcette (Tom Everett Scott) is coming home to see his son, Andrew (Keenan Tracey), and his firefighter brother, Pete (Ryan Merriman). On the way to visit them, something out of this world happens and his plane is diverted. But since he is in the sky and metallic things are falling down around them, his plane goes down and no one knows where. That is because communication has been cut because of these mysterious UFOs that are coming down to Earth and destroying everything in their path.
Meanwhile back in DC, the Vice President (Garwin Sanford) decides that he is in charge and starts to attack the presumed aliens. Only problem his strikes aren’t working and they are pissing off whatever is attacking them.
Thankfully the President has come across a barn with computer genius Todd (Iain Belcher) and his even more brilliant friend, Leni (Grace Sherman). The two of them help him contact the White House. But just as quickly as they as communication between them is started, it is ended. Now the three of them are trying to come up with a plan to destroy whatever is attacking the world.
Then the President winds up meeting up with his brother and his son and they have a plan to get destroy these things, thanks to alien researcher, Celia (Emily Holmes). But what is the point of having this plan, if they can’t tell anyone about it?
Will they be able to get in touch with White House again before it is too late or will our world be lost forever?
You have to tune this exciting film to find.
Normally I am not huge into invasion movies, but this one is so good it kept my interest from the beginning until the end. In fact I think it might be Syfy’s best movie of the year so far and we are half way through it.
At 9p Sinbad sets sail on Syfy and you will want to board this show that is full of adventure. Sinbad (Elliot Knight) and his brother come up with a way to make money by fighting with people in front of an audience. One fight will be his downfall when he accidentally kills Lord Akbari’s (Naveen Andrews) son. Lord Akarbi has him arrested and then gets revenge on Sinbad by killing his brother. Sinbad escapes and goes home, but his grandmother (Janet Suzman) rejects him. In fact she curses him to live his days only on water until he atones for his mistake. If he spends a whole day on land, he will die. Taking her punishment seriously, he stows away on a boat. His travels will not go smoothly when they run into a storm. Most of the people on board the ship are killed and the few survivors will now have an adventure on the seven seas. They are the imposing northman Gunnar (Elliot Cowan), thief and fellow stowaway Rina (Marama Corlett), wealthy African beauty Nala (Estella Daniels), ship’s doctor Anwar (Dimitri Leonidas), and the Cook (Junix Inocian).
I have to admit I never knew much about Sinbad’s story until this series, and now I can’t wait to find out what happens next.
Then at 10p the dinosaurs are coming, the dinosaurs are coming in Primeval: New World. A portal in time is letting dinosaurs enter our time and they are doing what they do best…killing people. Evan (Niall Matter) lost his wife to these creatures six years ago and he has been trying to stop them ever since, but has not gotten close to them until now. He along with his team will try to stop them before they kill again. All the while keeping it secret because who would believe that there are dinosaurs in our world?
Primeval: New World is a sci-fi show like any other out there and because of that you will love watching this show. This is the perfect show for everyone who loved dinosaurs as a kid and wondered what it would be like if they were living today.
