I think it is so messed up that she went out on an original song and Patrice is still there. Who is Patrice doing? The show will not be the same without Zayra it will be a lot less colorful.

Yeah, I know, last night’s show was … not the most spectacular display of rock we have ever seen. I don’t pick the songs they get. Trust me, if I did, you’d know it. As for the whole Storm thing, she could have gone with the Cake version of I Will Survive and chose not to. Sure, it’s the same song, but ultimately she opted for a less ironic version which to us, came off as really cheesy. I stand by my comments after seeing it on TV. Whatever, she is not going home today I am sure! My prediction for elimination? Patrice. Even though I don’t know what planet Zayra is on, she did take a chance. Actually, on second thought, if it were my call, I’d put together a reel of Zayra’s performances and cut her today, but send her with the reel directly to a Latin record label and say, "Here, take her… I don’t know what you got here, but it’s worth looking at. She’s just not right for what WE are doing." Honestly, I might just cut them both right now, but as I always say, it isn’t my call. I stay out of that decision making process. Tonight, we hear a Supernova song for the first time, featuring Jason, Tommy and Gilby with a yet to be named contestant having the honors. We finally get a chance to see what it is we are actually trying to do here. Find these guys a singer. Now that we are down to less contestants and the finale is drawing near, it’s time to hear and see what this thing could be. I am looking forward to it as I haven’t really heard an entire Supernova song with a contestant singing yet myself. I think that once we see what the boys are up to, it’ll be much easier to understand the rest of the show, our comments and the choices that our remaining singers make from here on out. Next week, we are back to some more rock oriented music. As for tonight’s encore… I’d give it to Ryan, Dilana or Lukas.

I hope Patrice is out tonight and last night like he said was ok. I don’t get Dilana’s scratchy voice, but then again I did not get Ruben, Fantasia, Carrie, Bo, Taylor and McPriss.

Rock Star Supernova’s Ryan Star profiled |

In case there’s any confusion, Ryan Star, a contestant on CBS’ reality competition series "Rock Star: Supernova," is not the Ryan Starr who competed on the first season of "American Idol."First, he’s a man,and she’s a woman. Second, it’s his real name (or at least two-thirds of it)."The girl’s name was Tiffany Montgomery," Star recalls, "and in the third or fourth episode, they were like, ‘Tiffany has an announcement. She’s going to change her name.’ Out of nowhere comes Ryan Starr, and I was like, ‘What the …? What just happened?’"It was so bizarre. I got all these phone calls, ‘What’s going on, what’s going on?’ It was hilarious. Ever since then, I’ve been watching her slowly fade into obscurity. Now it’s kind of cool that I’m doing this because, for once, people can say to her, ‘Isn’t that guy on "Rock Star" named Ryan Star?’"Star reveals that he uses his first and middle name, which was bestowed on him at birth by his brother and sister. He recalls, "They’re like, ‘We think he’s going to be a singer. That’s why we want it to be Star.’ And, sure enough. It’s really touching. I always say, ‘Thanks for looking out.’"As for his real last name, Star says, "It’s a long Russian name. It would take too long to print it. It works perfectly that I have a great middle name."Star is part of the ever-dwindling group of singers (two went last week during the Wednesday elimination show) competing to be the lead singer of the new band Supernova, composed of drummer Tommy Lee, formerly of Motley Crue, guitarist Gilby Clarke, who played with Guns ‘N Roses, and bassist Jason Newsted, late of Metallica.Of the original 15 contestants, eight are left — four women and four men. But, as Star, a New Yorker, points out, "I’m the last American man on the show. There’s one difference there. If this is the Olympics of rock ‘n’ roll, I’m the American hopeful."He’s right, since Magni Asgeirsson is from Iceland, Toby Rand is from Australia, and Lukas Rossi is from Canada. "Tommy is the real deal with the partying," Star says. "Jason and Gilby, I feel like they’re done with the partying, they’re done with the image. They really just want to rock. Tommy wants to do everything."He’s like a little kid, man. He’s so genuine. What you see is what you get. He’s just a sweetheart." While many of his cohorts took a long time to sleep off their Vegas revels, Star was up bright and early the next morning to look at the list of songs available for the Aug. 13 taping."I was the last man standing," he says. "I was the only guy up at 5:30 in the morning." The tapings take far more than an hour, so a lot gets lost in editing. Unfortunately, the audience at home seldom gets to hear all of Newsted’s thoughtful and detailed comments on each performance."So wise," Star says. "He’s so careful and respectful, and it means the world to us. It really does. It just means the world to us. He’s really listening, and it makes us feel respected and equal. … I’ve learned some really wise things from a guy who’s been doing this a long time."

I hope he makes it to the end!

Dave Navarro critiques the remaining Rock Star Supernova singers |

Rockstar: So Tuesday’s stripped down show taping was, uh. . . Interesting. Really weird song choices, and everyone kind of did relatively well so there wasn’t a whole lot to comment on although we tried our hardest. At this point in the game, they all kind of have something great about them while a couple have qualities that are not so great. I guess the real trick now is to get the Supernova guys to all agree on one performer. At this stage, I would have to say my personal favorite is Dilana, followed by Lukas. Dilana’s voice just has more range and control, but then again, Lukas is totally an original dude and I really like what he does. Ryan has really impressed me over the past couple of weeks too, but I don’t see him as The Rockstar type. Then again, he IS getting there each week. I guess Ryan just seems so moody with his persona and I picture more of a light hearted wild vibe fronting Supernova. Ryan would make a really good introverted, brooding, "hurt by the world" type of Rockstar a la Trent or Chris Martin. Lukas has that vibe too, but he also has the "let’s fuck shit up" side to him. Toby, I think can sing very well, but I am still on the fence about him. I haven’t seen THE performance out of him to help me have a clear opinion either way. Zayra? Well, you know how I feel about her. Definitely something there but not right for the band. She does have that thing that a good Rockstar should have. . . People either love her or hate her, but no matter how you slice it, they talk about her. Storm, for me is a tough one. When she gets the right song, she is amazing… But when she gets the wrong song, I can’t even deal. She is super secure, sexy, strong and proud and that makes her undeniably rad, regardless. Confusing, isn’t it? Patrice. Very cute and sings quite well but not that captivating. I still haven’t seen a performance out of her that rivals her Radiohead bottom three choice. She was amazing on that, but it would suck if that kind of performance was a fluke and she can’t bring that energy every time. Magni is great, but just kind of hovers in the middle for me… Great voice and a total consistant entertainer… But I have yet to say, "WOW!!!" to anything he has done.

He says some really interesting things. I wish he was in the band and not Jason Newsted, but I say that all the time.

I could be doing the math wrong, but looks like we should expecting another double elimination on Rock Star: Supernova?
