Rock Star Supernova’s Zayra says thanks via MySpace
August 22nd, 2006 under Rock Star: Supernova. [ Comments: none ]

Hi,

This is zayra. I wanted to thank you all personally for the amazing support and love I am getting from all of you. Know that I am reading all your beautiful comments and words of encouragement. I will respond to all individually for sure. It’s going to take me a few days to go through it all. That’s a GREAT problem to have…. Some of you are wondering where to find my music. I have an album out called RULETA that you can download from itunes or get it through www.zayra.net. I just re-released it with the English versions of some of my Spanish album’s songs, and some new tunes that didn’t make the first RULETA. Some stores have it already, and I will let you know where to get it when i get the list of stores soon.

If you want to download hi-res pictures to share with your friends and family, go to www.zayraalvarez.com/press.

Love you all so much and keep in touch!

Zayra (MySpace)

How cool is she? I miss her already.

Tommy Lee and his girlfriend Erin Naas and Gilby Clark and his wife Daniella.

The very recently engaged Brooke Burke and David Charvet and Mark Burnett and his girlfriend Roma Downey and her daughter.
Wow wonder how many of the contestants did love songs last night to serenade that audience.

Dave Navarro previews this week’s Rock Star Supernova
August 20th, 2006 under Rock Star: Supernova. [ Comments: none ]

Hard for me to believe, but I am sitting back here in my dressing room getting ready for yet another performance show. These weeks tend to blend into each other and become kind of a smeared memory. I can hear the band rehearsing through the walls next door. I think today’s song selections are viewer’s choice, meaning they have been voted for online. Maybe we can satiate some of the viewers that have a problem with the songs on the show. I know, probably not! I haven’t seen any of the singers perform yet, but I can’t help but think that this is simply the "Patrice Goes Home" week. At this point, she would have to do backflips and have fireworks shoot out of her eyes to save herself.

Q: I hear Rock Star’s season finale is September 13 (Perk’s and my son’s birthdays!!) Doesn’t that mean possibly another double elimination…or are my math skills off?

I think that there will be a final 3 or 4 on the show’s finale. Not sure yet, but a double elimination isn’t really a guarantee.

Q: I read on an AOL news site that Rob Zombie will be joining you on the couch pretty soon. Can you confirm or deny the rumor?

That is an old story that they chose to run pretty much out of nowhere. Originally, we were to have guest panelists come up for an outsider’s perspective, but the Supernova chemistry on the couch worked out so well, that we scrapped the idea… As cool as it would have been.

Wednesday, we will get a chance to hear another Supernova song with a different singer on it. I am just as curious as some of you are to hear what it will be like. After hearing a few of their songs, we will have a better understanding of what the Supernova sonic landscape will sound like.

I really hope Patrice is out.

Rock Star Supernova’s Zayra life after the show
August 18th, 2006 under Rock Star: Supernova. [ Comments: none ]

Last month, when the Star-Telegram talked to Dallas resident and Rock Star: Supernova contestant Zayra Alvarez in Los Angeles, she seemed to anticipate the first question: Isn’t this show an odd fit for her? After all, Alvarez is a native of Puerto Rico whose voice has a strong Latin-music tinge, and here she is auditioning for a group made up of former members of Motley Crue, Guns N’ Roses and Metallica."All I needed to know is that it wasn’t going to be metal," she said in July. "It’s going to be more pop — not pop, but more alternative. They described that it was going to be more like a mix of Coldplay and Radiohead. And I love that."Unfortunately, viewers didn’t love Alvarez, whose unusual stage moves and outrageous fashion sense frequently got her voted into the show’s bottom three every week. The Supernova guys kept bringing her back, but, despite giving her strongest performances yet, she was eliminated from the CBS reality series Wednesday night."I’m good, I’m good," Alvarez said by phone Thursday when asked how she was doing. "I know that those last performances, to me, were my best. If that didn’t please them, I’m cool with what I did, and I’m going to keep going."The group — consisting of drummer Tommy Lee, guitarist Gilby Clarke and bassist Jason Newsted — also acted as judges on the show, along with co-host Dave Navarro. Navarro, especially, often said that Alvarez didn’t seem right for the band but that she might have a good solo career ahead of her. And when she performed a Spanish-language original song on Tuesday’s show, she finally seemed in her element. But she says it’s too soon to know where she’s going with this."I have no idea," she said. "I’m fresh out of the oven. I don’t know what the world is doing out there." (The contestants are sequestered in an L.A. mansion during the run of the show.)"I’ve always done Spanish, but I’m just in the middle of finishing writing an English-language album, and I do want to rock out more," she said. "I’ll do Spanish as well, because that’s just part of me."Although Rock Star’s "Rockers" occasionally bicker, they’re always portrayed as being supportive of one another’s performances, and Alvarez said that support was genuine. Two other contestants with Texas links, Austin’s Patrice Pike (who attended school in Dallas) and Houston-based, South Africa-born Dilana Robichaux, remain on the show, and Robichaux is emerging as the favorite. But Alvarez wouldn’t commit when asked who she thinks should win. "I think everybody should win," she said of the seven remaining contestants.Alvarez said she’ll return to Dallas this weekend, but she’s not sure whether she’ll remain in Texas or relocate to L.A. The biggest drag about elimination, aside from not getting her star gig, is being away from the other contestants. "We were in a war together," she said. "Some great friendships were formed. … It was a cool summer camp, big-time."

I am going to miss her, she was like the only interesting one on that show.
