Heartland is a show with a heart! Heartland premieres on TNT tonight at 10p and I can tell you after watching the first two episodes this show is amazing! David Hollander who also created The Guardian has another great show on his hands with Heartland. I will be honest this show had me at Treat Williams, I have been a fan of his work since Hair and part of the reason I was so upset that Everwood was canceled because it meant I would no longer be able to watch him every week. In fact another reviewer said it best that Treat’s character Dr Nathaniel Grant is like Dr Andy Brown before he moved to Everwood, which in ways so so true. I also realized that it wasn’t Greg Berlanti who made Everwood so great, it was Treat Williams. Seriously there is something so calming about him, that everyone will want to have him as their doctor.
Now back to the show, Heartland is about how Dr Nathaniel Grant and the people he works with deal with their daily lives in a hospital’s transplant unit. Although other shows have done the transplant storyline, none have been based solely on just that and I can’t believe it took them so long to do so. But then again good things come to those who wait and the timing was just right because this show handles it just right. Kari Matchett (Invasion) plays Dr Grant’s ex-wife who works as a donor-coordinator at the hospital. She is also raising their daughter who is going through her rebellious teenage years. Grant who will get a promotion in the pilot still talks the person he replaces (Dabney Coleman) and their conversations really help with the show’s dynamic. Another part of the show I like is that is that Grant sees the people whose organs have been transplanted in the people they were transplanted to. Unlike Raines it is just the right amount of a glance that it is touching without being overdone. The only complaint I have about the show is I wish they would spend a little more time on the people getting the transplants, but other than that I have a new show to watch every week and so will you! So tune in to Heartland tonight at 10p on TNT and enjoy what will be the sleeper hit of the summer!
BTW The Closer is also premiering tonight on TNT at 9p. I have never seen the show, but my friend who hated TV loves this show!!!
The Dead Zone is alive again on USA tonight at 10p and it is so in the zone! The Dead Zone is back tonight and there are a lot of changes ahead for the show. Anthony Michael Hall who plays Johnny Smith told Sci Fi that the show moved from it’s home of 5 years, Vancouver to Montreal. But that is not all that is changing for the show. The season starts off with the loss of two important characters. I read last year that they were going to be killing off characters and I guessed right who one of the two was that died in the season premiere. I will not tell you who dies, but the death was very emotional. As hard as Johnny tried to stop the death, he wasn’t able to and I am sure that will change his outlook on things and how he uses his power to see the future. That is not the only change for Johnny Smith, now when he touches the newly appointed Vice President of the United Stated, Greg Stillson (Sean Patrick Flanery – one of my to do actors) he doesn’t see the end of the world like he used to. Does that mean Stillson is not the doomsday person he once was or is there something wrong with Johnny’s powers? I can’t wait to see how that plays out!
There were rumors last year that season 5 was going to be The Dead Zone’s last season, I am glad that rumor was not true and the show is back for it’s sixth season! So please watch this show tonight and every Sunday night on USA at 10p, so we can get a lucky 7th season! This show is one of the few shows I actually watch in repeats, so that should give you a hint how good this show really is!
BTW another thing I find fun about watching The Dead Zone is looking at Anthony Michael Hall now and still not believing that is the same guy that was part of the brat pack in the ’80s! In fact yesterday’s episode was the first time I forgot about that!
Like the ad says this season of The 4400 looks extraordinary!!! The 4400 is back for it’s fourth season tonight on USA and this season in changing things up. The last few seasons of The 4400 have been all about the 4400 returness and how their new abilities are being used. This season is focusing on the powers of people who have been taking promicin. Even though the show is changing things up, it is still keeping the same feel as previous seasons and I really like that! Each season there is a new theme to the show, and every season it works.
Last season it was all about, is Isabella good or bad and how to destroy her. Isabella starts this season in jail, so it will be interesting to see what they are going to do with her this season. Jordan Collier is back and I can’t wait to see what he is up to because you know it is going to be bad! A lot of the characters back, but not much was answered in the first episode of the season, but I know as the weeks go one we will be learning more about what they have been up to.
If you have never 4400, it is not too late to watch! What else is there to watch on Sundays at 9p especially since that show The Sopranos is over! Plus this really is a great show!!!
OMFG! Rescue Me is back for it’s fourth season on FX tonight at 10p and it is it’s best season so far! I have seen the first three episodes of this season of one my favorite all-time shows and I was literally blown away. The first 5 minutes of the show had me laughing hysterically when Tommy realizes his 18 year old daughter is drunk, smoking pot and having sex on the pill and it just goes downhill for him from then on! Then there is the relationship between Franco and his girlfriend’s Tourettes brother that is so funny and endearing at the same time, I just love the two of them together. The second episode has the firemen talking about who is in their spank bank and one of them has a no-no one in his spank back, wait until you see how it all plays out. It was the funniest scene on Rescue Me since season one when they had a penis measuring contest! The third episode takes a serious turn and I can’t wait to see how it resolves itself in the fourth episode. In fact I just can’t wait for this whole season because it is starting off so f’ing hot!
If you have never seen the show, it is not too late to start with the show tonight. Rescue Me pushes the envelope and this season is no different, but unlike other FX shows it is not about shock value. If you are in the mood to laugh, cry, care, have an adrenaline rush and get angry all in 60 minutes than Rescue Me is the show for you because I promise you it will do all of the above. Just FYI it is not politically correct, so if that is a factor then this show is not for you.
Thank you Denis Leary for creating such an awesome f’ing show!!!
So C’mon C’mon and check out Rescue Me tonight on FX at 10p!!!
Drive premieres on Fox tonight at 8p and moves to it’s normally scheduled time slot Mondays at 8p, tomorrow. All I can say about Drive is that I absolutely love it!!!
The show had me at Brian Bloom’s eye (which was 5 seconds into the show) and even though he is not a series regular I am so hooked. The show is full of ensemble cast that you have liked on other shows or in other movies, but no matter where you know them from or even if you don’t know them you will be rooting for them within seconds of their first appearance.
I have to admit I am normally not into action shows, but this show is so fast moving and full of adrenaline that by the end of the hour you are counting the minutes until your next fix. I don’t know how else to describe this show but to say it is a fast placed endearing show that makes you wish you could be part of the action.
Drive is about several people from several walks of life who are forced to compete in a cross-country race to win $32 million. No one knows why they were chosen or who chose them, but they all want to win that $32 million dollars. Throughout the competition they have different check points and at these check points you don’t want to come in last as we see at the end of the first episode.
Drive stars Nathan Fillion (Firefly), Melanie Lynskey (Two and a Half Men), Taryn Manning (Hustle & Flo, BOOMKat), Amy Ackers (Angel), Kristin Lehman (Killer Instinct), Kevin Alejandro (Ugly Betty), JD Pardo (A Girl Like Me), Dylan Baker (The Pitts) and Charles Martin Smith (The Triangle.)
So start engines because this is a race you don’t want to lose. Simply put Fox has another hit on their hands with Drive!
